Electric Line Worker
The Amana Society Service Company (ASSC) is a small utility company located in east-central Iowa, right in the heart of the Amana Colonies. This community offers small town charm and is located within 25 minutes of both Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. ASSC offers electric and water service to the residents and businesses of the Amana Colonies, with limited overhead lines, mostly underground distribution and a 24MW generating plant. The ASSC is currently accepting applications for the position of Electric Line Worker.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintenance and construction of underground distribution system.
Maintenance and construction of overhead distribution system.
Maintenance and construction of street lights.
Operate service equipment as needed (service vehicles, digger/derrick, trencher, plow, chipper).
Operate and perform maintenance on diesel generators
Respond to outages and emergency calls.
Perform tree trimming.
Work with water department, as needed.
Other activities as needed (truck maintenance, support setup for Amana Colonies festivals, etc.).
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED.
Must have completed and received lineman certification from an accredited training program.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have and maintain a valid drivers license.
Must move/live within 10 minutes driving distance of the ASSC shop within 6 months.
Must have or be able to obtain a Class B Certification with Air brake CDL within 6 months.
Training in First Aid, CPR and AED a plus.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Working conditions include all types of weather, rough terrain, dusty or muddy conditions.
