BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:

The P LC ELECTRIFICATION OF TRANSPORTATION Department of the P ELECTRIFICATION OF TRANSPORTATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. This position may be filled on Oahu, Maui, or Hawaii Island (Role: Professional).

JOB FUNCTION:

Administers One Company charging station assets covering the maintenance, replacement, and repair of EV supply equipment and oversees service providers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Monitors various social media sites to spot performance issues.
  • Plans, coordinates and monitors maintenance and repairs of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE).
  • Coordinates and schedules routine maintenance.
  • Analyzes mechanical and operating issues and works with vendors to correct warranty and non-warranty deficiencies.
  • Ensures invoices are accurate and appropriate after inspecting the work performed and administers invoice information.
  • Performs tier 1 root cause diagnostic to determine and recommend approach for repair, including but not limited to evaluating customer experience, going to site, user error, software/hardware issues, modem evaluation.
  • Performs troubleshooting and simple repairs (e.g. label replacement, fuse replacement, etc.) DC Fast Chargers as needed.
  • Coordinates with EV supply equipment and EV service provider contractors as needed.
  • Logs repairs following Company process for internal and external communication, as needed.
  • Provides advanced notice to the public about any scheduled or emergency repairs via email, social media, web, and/or physical signage placed on the equipment.
  • Posts updates to websites and social media platforms informing customers of the current status of charging hardware on an as needed basis.
  • Assists members of the public with using the charging infrastructure, including providing instructions on equipment use and answering general questions about equipment functionality.
  • Negotiates contracts with EVSE maintenance and repair contractors to ensure price(s) are competitive and adequate customer service and support levels are provided for normal and emergency situations.
  • Oversees and evaluates the work of contractors ensuring that maintenance and repair work are performed according to specifications, within manufacturer's standards, and meets all law and regulations.
  • Defines the operations and maintenance, capital replacement and capital addition requirements for EVSE by closely working with vendors, contractors, product managers, department managers and Director.
  • For budgeting purposes, estimates the capital and non-capital funding required for the company's EVSE and Electric Vehicle Supply Provider (EVSP) and supports Managers and Director during budgeting process.
  • Researches and implements new technologies to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and improve productivity.
  • Assists Manager with drafting detailed specifications for competitive bidding on equipment, vehicles, tools, maintenance contracts, and other fleet projects as required.
  • Manages O&M and capital expenditures to meet approval budgets.
  • Develops/coordinates/conducts training programs to meet equipment training needs.
  • Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.
  • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    Knowledge Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of EVSE and EVSP technology acquired through experience in and with repair work.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and mainframe systems and related software applications, i.e., spreadsheets, word processing, etc. Working knowledge of Hawaiian Electric's information systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of EVSE maintenance policies, procedures.
  • Working knowledge in the use of electronic preventative maintenance systems.
  • Working knowledge of LEAN continuous improvement principles and best practices to achieve operational excellence.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Urban Planning, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering or related field, or appropriate related experience.
  • Skills Requirements:

  • Good oral and written communication and presentation skills for a wide variety of internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to use technical knowledge and skills to perform detailed technical analysis and make recommendations.
  • Analytical and administrative skills required for such tasks as preparing and monitoring estimates/forecasts and carrying out company/department policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and persuade various groups or individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide work directions to contractors.
  • Ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability to handle difficult and/or sensitive issues while using tact, courtesy, and discretion.
  • Ability to read, use, and understand information in multiple formats such as Geographical Information System (GIS), Global Positioning System (GPS), utility mapping, surveys, construction plans and specifications, and record drawings.
  • Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license. Must meet the standards for required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.
  • Experience Requirements:

  • Several years (3-5) experience in the maintenance and repair of EVSE and/or EVSP.
  • Several years (3-5) experience preferred with electronic preventative maintenance systems.
  • Multiple years (3-7) experience managing asset management.
  • Several years (3-5) experience of contract and contractor management.
  • Several years (3-5) customer service experience.
  • Hiring Range: The hiring range for the Electric Vehicle Charging Station Asset Manager - Oahu, Maui or Hawaii Island [Req ID 9216] position is $96,000.00 to $122,500.00. The person selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
