Overview of Electrical and Computer Engineering Lab TechnicianThe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is seeking a Lab Technician to provide electronics equipment support for the ECE labs along with computer software, hardware and information systems technology support. The ECE Department is highly ranked, ABET accredited, and led by respected faculty and staff. Our department offers BSEE, BSCmpE, and MSECE programs, conducts sponsored research, and graduates a roster of successful engineers. Duties and Responsibilities of Electrical and Computer Engineering Lab Technician - Work with instructors/faculty to ensure that lab equipment and computers are ready for student use.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate teaching and research laboratory and ECE shop electronic test equipment, and install, calibrate, and test new equipment for instructional labs and research
- Maintain the hardware/software for approximately 140 computers, and troubleshoot lab AV equipment, including projectors, cameras, and video switches
- Put together orders for equipment used in labs (e.g., analog and digital circuits, microprocessors)
- Maintain inventory of computing hardware and software and research computer, parts, and equipment
- Order required hardware, software, equipment, and parts for Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) labs and research
- Collaborate with PNW external Service units as directed by the Dean and ECE department chair when beneficial & as needed
- Work to maintain instructional and research laboratory environment in the college
- Coordinate with PNW external service units with the goal to minimize licensing & purchase costs
- Assist Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) faculty with construction and fabrication of circuitry for teaching and research purposes
- Suggest new lab and shop policies for fostering student learning and success
- Work with the ECE department chair and faculty and make recommendations for updating instructional lab equipment
- Perform other technician duties as required by the department chair of ECE

Education of Electrical and Computer Engineering Lab Technician - High School Diploma required
- Bachelor of Science or Technology degree in Electrical OR Electronics OR Electrical & Computer Engineering is preferred.
Experience of Electrical and Computer Engineering Lab Technician - Minimum of one year of experience with IT support required. (i) Electronics troubleshooting & repair, computer hard/software maintenance, and soldering; (ii) AV equipment & specialized ECE lab equipment; (iii) Analog and Digital circuits, and microprocessors; (iv) Laboratory test equipment, including digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, and function generator; (v) Lab management technologies including Windows/Linux system administration & troubleshooting, software installation & imaging; (vi) Report Writing
Core Competencies of Electrical and Computer Engineering Lab Technician - Must have ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate teaching and research laboratory equipment for the ECE department and the College.
- Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Occasional travel to Westville campus required.
