Electrical & Controls Engineer Postion Details:
This position will be located at the Carlisle Plant in Carlisle, PA, the Wichita Falls Plant, in Wichita Falls, TX or the Vitro Glass Technology Center in Cheswick, PA.
The Electrical & Controls Engineer will supervise the safety, quality, cost and timely design, installation and checkout of assigned electrical and process control systems for the production, fabrication and distribution facilities of the Vitro Architectural Glass business.
Glass Engineering provides complete engineering services to Vitro glass facilities worldwide and is a leader in the advancement and development of new technology. The Engineer is responsible for developing designs for electrical processes and equipment for new and existing facilities. Contact is required with other associates to effectively coordinate the work. He/She may supervise contract engineers, draftsmen, and CAD operators in the preparation of electrical drawings, specifications, estimates, documentation and other activities needed to accomplish project objectives. It is the Engineer's responsibility to make certain that drawings and specifications produced are accurate, clear, and concise.
The Engineer regularly reviews progress of projects during design, fabrication, and installation to ensure expenditures will not exceed the authorized amounts and that schedules are met. He/She maintains communications with all plants to provide consultation and assists in the solution of engineering problems.
The Engineer will normally be expected to manage and coordinate projects in the department, often directing other technical personnel in the process. It is desirable for him/her to have a knowledge of glass or industrial manufacturing technology. He/She should possess an advanced knowledge of the principles of electrical engineering, programming industrial systems, and automation. Examples include PLC, HMI programming, drives and motion control systems, computer systems and networks; as well as electrical troubleshooting. He/She should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of all phases of engineering.
The Engineer works independently under the direction of a Senior Staff Engineer and has the primary responsibility for the technical and financial performance of a given project. He/She develops practical engineering solutions to problems arising in the course of the design and installation of the project. He/she will work frequently with installation contractors and equipment vendors to ensure successful installation and startup of equipment. Working with Purchasing, he/she analyzes bids and makes decisions relating to fabricators and equipment suppliers. The performance of the job responsibilities require that approximately 20 40% of time be spent in travel, which can be international as well as domestic.
