Job Summary:The Power Distribution Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management of the power distribution systems within the utility network. This role ensures the efficient and reliable delivery of electrical power to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. The Power Distribution Manager leads a team of engineers, technicians, and field personnel to maintain, repair, and upgrade distribution infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.Key Responsibilities:
  • Operations Management:
    • Oversee the operation of power distribution systems, including substations, transformers, and distribution lines.
    • Monitor system performance, identifying and addressing potential issues to prevent outages and disruptions.
    • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of new projects and maintenance activities.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, technicians, and field staff, ensuring optimal performance and professional development.
    • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure the team meets project deadlines and operational goals.
    • Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Project Management:
    • Plan, budget, and oversee power distribution projects, including upgrades, expansions, and emergency repairs.
    • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
    • Collaborate with project stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all operations comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
    • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and training programs for the team.
    • Respond to emergencies, coordinating the response to minimize impact and restore services quickly.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Serve as the point of contact for customers, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction with service delivery.
    • Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and community organizations to maintain positive relationships and stay informed on regulatory changes.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare and present reports on system performance, project progress, and team activities to senior management.
    • Analyze data to identify trends, optimize operations, and recommend improvements to the distribution network.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PE) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in power distribution, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and teams.
  • Proficient in the use of power distribution software and tools.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and work under pressure.
