Electrical Engineer
Position Overview
Medix is looking for a hands-on Electrical Engineer to join our client's team in Lake Zurich. This role involves leveraging your expertise in schematic design, panel layout, and assembly to develop and build automated systems used for manufacturing, testing, inspecting, and packaging medical devices. The ideal candidate thrives in both design and hands-on implementation, contributing to new product development (NPD) and process improvements in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and create schematics, control panels, and layouts for automated systems using SolidWorks Electrical.
- Prepare bills of materials (BOM) and coordinate with purchasing to source required components.
- Assemble and wire electrical panels for industrial automation systems, including prototypes and final products.
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits, control systems, and components to ensure optimal functionality and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and build equipment, fixtures, and tooling that support production and process engineering.
- Participate in equipment setup, testing, and qualification; develop preventive maintenance procedures as needed.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality protocols, and company SOPs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, Associate degree, or technical certification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in electrical design, panel layout/assembly, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks Electrical or equivalent) for electrical design and drafting.
- Knowledge of industrial automation components, including PLCs, HMIs, motors, sensors, and pneumatics.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for team collaboration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with business operating systems.
- Comfortable working in both laboratory and manufacturing environments with occasional physical demands, such as lifting and standing.
