The Electrical Engineer will work as a member of the Maintenance group and support the Maintenance Manager with scheduling resources, maintenance, design construction, installation and upgrade of automated and/or electrical systems throughout the facility. Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential.
He/she is also responsible for assisting in the continuous improvement of the on-staff electricians by performing activities such as on-site training, coordination of training by outside experts, assisting with documentation creation, etc.
SAFETY AND PROCEDURES
* Follow all publicized safety policies/procedures and JIBS applicable to the job.
* Use appropriate PPE that has been identified on the Hazard Analysis for the department/role.
* Attend and participate in all safety training, safety meetings, audits and Behavior Based Safety programs assigned.
* Report all safety hazards observed. If capable, correct the safety hazard identified.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
* Must demonstrate good hands-on ability and also be familiar with modern PLC's like Siemens, Allen Bradley, Omron, Modicon and Servo Motors/Motion Control
* Good trouble shooting skills required to help resolve problems with custom electrical control equipment
* May direct activities of one or more technicians or co-op students
* Generates technical reports
* Generates ideas for electrical control systems to improve existing processes
* Delivers written and/oral presentations
* Conducts Calibration of equipment
* Ability to train other personnel
* Ability to independently design electrical controls and panels (UL508) is preferred
* Design and coordinate fabrication of power and control systems for manufacturing equipment
* Documents electrical control designs, algorithms and programs such that the equipment can be readily understood and serviced by other electrical engineers and technicians
* Gathers and interprets data
* Uses knowledge and understanding of the Process equipment to suggest solutions to problems encountered in operating and controlling such equipment.
* Exercises judgment on the progress of the work and makes suggestions of technical alternatives as needed
* Leads, plans, conducts, schedules and coordinates small projects
