Role: Facility Systems Electrical Engineer

Location: Vandenberg Air Force Base, Vandenberg Village, California

Duration: 12-month contract

Pay Rate: Up to $45/hr W2 (Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, LTD Insurance)

Are you an experienced electrical engineer with a passion for cutting-edge projects in a dynamic and technically challenging environment?

We are looking for a Facility Systems Electrical Engineer to join our client's specialized engineering and infrastructure team supporting critical ground electrical power systems at launch sites. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on complex systems and contribute to groundbreaking advancements in aerospace and engineering.

What You'll Do

  • Electrical System Management: Design, operate, and maintain medium and low voltage electrical power systems (12kV, 480V, 120V, 24V control systems) for launch complexes and supporting facilities, including cabling, components, instrumentation, and controls.
  • System Support: Collaborate with technical staff and contractors to enhance electromechanical systems, ensuring both electrical and mechanical operations function seamlessly.
  • Documentation Development: Create and revise operational test procedures and maintenance manuals for facility electromechanical systems, ensuring optimal system performance and compliance.
  • Launch Readiness Coordination: Partner with base infrastructure teams to ensure high-voltage supply systems meet launch operation requirements.
  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Oversight: Design, operate, and maintain firmware controllers to support launch site systems.
  • Innovative Solutions: Support development projects, including new launch systems, customer-driven studies, mission-specific modifications, and major facility upgrades.
  • Problem Solving and Improvement: Investigate and resolve technical issues, collaborating across teams to implement strategic system improvements.
  • Project Execution: Lead projects by applying technical engineering expertise, managing schedules, budgets, and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all designs and operations meet safety standards, including adherence to EWR 127-1 Range Safety requirements.

What You'll Bring

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related fields such as Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with equivalent experience).
  • At least 4 years of experience in electrical or power engineering within aerospace, utilities, or similarly complex environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams, customers, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to support field operations and maintenance, including working at heights, confined spaces, and areas with high-pressure gases or hazardous materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience with large, complex mechanical or industrial systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety in the Workplace).
