Job Description:

• Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. • Set clear performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations. • Guide the professional development of team members, identifying training needs and supporting their growth. • Promote effective communication, knowledge sharing, and teamwork among team members and other departments. • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, scope, and objectives. • Allocate resources, monitor progress, and identify and mitigate risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle. • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, promoting the adoption of best practices and efficient engineering methodologies. • Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team, leveraging your expertise to resolve complex technical challenges. • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and innovations, and evaluate their potential impact on our engineering processes. • Collaborate with the engineering team to design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions. • Identify and leverage outside resources where required to fill gaps in competencies • Develops and manages budget, schedule, and quality requirements across multiple disciplines for assigned projects. • Work collaboratively within the Global Product Team to fulfill requirements and/or meet applicable standards, including the associated cost and cycle time. • Foster effective communication and collaboration between engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure a shared understanding of project requirements and objectives. • Coordinate with external partners, vendors, or contractors as necessary to meet project deliverables. • Provide input into the recruitment and onboarding of engineering talent, identifying skill gaps and ensuring the team has the necessary resources to succeed. • Drive innovation and champion the adoption of emerging technologies and engineering practices. • Develop and execute test plans throughout the project lifecycle and perform system-level testing to validate control system performance, safety and security to customer, industry and regulatory requirements. • Demonstrate compliance with customer requirements, regulatory requirements and system specifications considering inputs from multiple subsystems. • Document systems design and development processes, including creating technical documentation, quality artifacts and user manuals. • Work with the engineering team to complete and maintain documentation of all assemblies, including generation of Bill of Material for production transition • Lead and conduct DFMEA risk analysis, root cause failure investigations, and solutions engineering • Determine detailed technical requirements for power electronic converters • Review inverter and converter technical documentation to determine compliance with requirements and evaluate technical characteristics • Verify functionality and performance characteristics by testing at CLOU's own testing facilities and/or supplier facilities • Develop deep understanding of inverter and converter operations and provide guidance to the Product teams on inverter integration into the CLOU's products • Work with converter system suppliers on modifications or improvements to their products to ensure optimal integration with CLOU's system design • Write technical specifications for equipment procurement and/or technical annexes to contract documents • Maintain CLOU's internal power electronics database and provide relevant documentation to internal stakeholders to allow for standardized offering and deployment of integrated products • Perform system level electrical design for CLOU's grid-scale battery energy storage (BESS) products focusing on hardware designs that are safe, flexible, maintainable, and cost competitive. • Develop requirements and electrical design for multi-MW energy storage systems integrating battery, power conversion, transformer to medium voltage, controls hardware, communication, auxiliary power, and safety equipment into standardized products • Prepare product technical information including key performance metrics, datasheets, and configuration limitations. Support Sales Engineering team in incorporating into CLOU's technical sales tools. • Oversee and at times perform electrical studies as part of system design, including short circuit analysis, protection sizing, protection coordination, and arc flash. • Evaluate and review product safety standards and local codes; support compliance process to obtain system level product certifications • Work with electrical component vendors to evaluate, select, and collect detailed technical information on system subcomponents • Obtain feedback on product design from regional project development teams, construction managers, commissioning teams, and services teams to incorporate experience and lessons learned into the product design • Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and product management to release product design iterations using product lifecycle management tools. • Direct CAD drafting team in preparation of system level electrical drawings packages and provide design inputs

Requirements

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent • 8+years product development and test experience with energy storage, or other integrated DC/AC, DC/DC electrical systems experience with PCS HW and SW design and application • Knowledge of utility grid interconnection standards, such as UL/IEEE standards, and EMEA/APAC/Americas grid codes • Familiarity with related safety and test standards, such as UL, IEC, ISO, NEC, and NESC compliance design and construction practices • Experience with NFPA 70E training and recommended practices • Knowledge of utility grid interconnection standards and regional grid codes • Familiarity with utility scale systems design, control, and monitoring for grid connected and grid forming operating modes and applications is a plus • Familiarity with network architecture and communication protocols such as ModbusTCP, CANbus, or DNP3 • Knowledge of or history working with major component suppliers in the solar or battery storage industry, such as inverters, PV panels, or lithium-ion battery modules • Proficient with electrical modeling software packages such as ETAP, Matlab Simulink, PSCAD, or EMTP-RV • Experience with drafting electrical schematics in CAD software such as AutoCAD • Excellent English verbal and writing skills • Takes individual initiative and works with minimal supervision while being a collaborative team player • Demonstrated mission driven project management experience and an advanced planning mindset to address schedule and resource constraints • Possesses an entrepreneurial drive for getting things done and a “whatever it takes” attitude • Demonstrated track record of managing a technical product with dispersed functional teams and a global supply chain • Works dynamically, across multiple teams and projects concurrently, in a technical business environment • Ability to solve complex technical problems and communicate results • Willing and able to travel, domestically and internationally, approximately 10% of the time
