Electrical EngineerLocation: New York, NY Reporting to the Sr. Director, Optimization and Engineering, the Electrical engineer will organize and manage electrical engineering activities to support operations and compliance, manage risk and optimize wind facilities. Responsibilities
- Maintain project specific studies, equipment specifications, as-built drawings for wind balance of plant such as collection system, substation and asset-owned transmission system.
- Protection fault review with support from Operations and SCADA teams to ensure all electrical systems are operating as expected
- Review substation preventative and corrective maintenance records
- Site inspections and QA/QC of electrical maintenance/ repair work.
- Review electrical studies/ drawings/ agreements for any modifications. Develop/review work instructions and safety procedures as required
- Support key risk and compliance management programs such as arc flash analyses and NERC standards.
- Work with OEMs and/or third-party engineers to develop PSSE/ PSCAD/ TSAT/ETAP models
- Coordinate and advise on the development, design, procurement and commissioning of electrical engineering projects
- Support the development, revision and quality control of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs, policies procedures and reports pertaining to electrical engineering
- Demonstrate a strong alignment with corporate values, including health, safety and environment. Support site operations in developing and managing project safety plans.
- Assist in capital and maintenance budget preparation and prioritize, plan and schedule of work budgeted including recommendations on retention of consultants
- Propose improvements and evaluate new technologies to minimize operating costs, risk and potential losses and maximize potential generation;
- Support internal teams with proposal reviews, RFPs, contract awards, tendering, debriefing, quality assurance and implementation;
- Prepare, review, negotiate and finalize contract documents and supervise contract administration to ensure compliance with permits, policies and codes;
Requirements
- Knowledge of industry standard codes and practices such as IEEE, NESC, ANSI
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications, studies, drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge of substation relays, protection systems, LOTO procedures
- Knowledge of the operation of capacitor banks, transformer load tap changers, breakers and disconnect switches.

Qualifications
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related degree or equivalent technical experience
- 3+ years of experience with power system electrical infrastructure and analysis
- Broad knowledge of wind technologies
- Experience in renewable energy development is an asset
Salary: $100,000 - $110,000
