The Control Systems Engineering department within the Central Engineering organization is looking for a Relay Protection Engineer. In this role, you will design and apply relay protection for company transmission and distribution systems, which includes the design of relay systems for new equipment and substations, the design of modifications to existing relay systems, the review of schematic and wiring diagrams, and the creation and review of procurement specifications. Looking for an individual with experience performing short circuit studies, relay coordination studies, and relay setting calculations to develop relay setting files and records. Must be comfortable working cross functionally with field operations, construction, and testing departments to ensure assignments are completed successfully. The qualified candidate will be involved in a major project to build a new substation and will be fully responsible for relay protection associated with that new station buildout. You will utilize the latest industry technology and assist in the creation of equipment settings and specifications in accordance with group processes and procedures. Responsibilities include ---Perform detailed fault studies in CAPE and use results to perform settings calculations. -Perform associated coordination studies, loadability studies, etc. as necessary. -Develop setting files for protective relays including all associated documentation. -Review, mark up, provide guidance to design engineering regarding project drawings. -Provide oversight to protection and controls integration vendor including reviewing deliverables for accuracy. -Assist in off-site and on-site acceptance testing of the system. -Check installation design for regulatory compliance and present to regulators as needed. -Additional tasks as necessary to develop the protection system for the new substation. Master's Degree in Engineering. Ability to write specifications and standards and knowledge of industry standards and regulations (IEEE, IEC, PRC, etc.). Possess good project management skills with a demonstrated record in implementing multi-discipline projects. Has experience implementing IEC 61850 systems. 4+ years of experience with 'relay protection' systems. Background in electrical engineering in either a transmission or distribution environment. Experience in setting relays, relay coordination, and performing fault studies. Experience with Power System software such as CAPE, ASPEN, PSSE, CYME or similar. Strong analytical ability and the capability to resolve emergencies associated with relay protection systemsMust be flexible to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities and deadlines. Possess strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work cross functionally and effectively interact with subordinates, colleagues, and various levels of management. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Active Driver's License.
