PGS Worldwide is actively seeking a skilled Electrical Facilities Engineer to support ongoing projects for an Aerospace leader in Greenlawn, NY. This is an initial 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity and I will respond immediately to all qualified candidates.
Job Description:
- Understanding of electrical equipment and work space requirements; general power associated with office, laboratories, lighting layout, circuitry and lighting controls.
- Some knowledge of emergency systems including generators, ATS and lighting inverters.
- An understanding of applicable Codes and Standards.
- Use CAD / Revit to model electrical needs, data runs and any associated notes / concerns
- Maintain building facilities, equipment, and machinery. Coordinates with building contractors and ensures building safety and adherence to applicable building codes. Perform project management for new and existing building commissioning and energy audit projects.
- Works as part of project team in the production of engineering solutions for large scale and complex building projects, corroborates/coordinates with other design team members including architect, site/civil and mechanical engineers to ensure electrical systems are integrated with the project's goals.
- May perform site surveys of existing conditions to provide the basis of design activities.
- Must have the ability to read and comprehend technical drawings and documents; effectively communicate ideas and instructions to others; possess an understanding of sound design and construction methods; must have knowledge of hazards chemicals; have knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and safe work practices; ability to develop, material lists, scopes of work, equipment specifications and other package documents.
- Must have understanding of Facilities Management functions, processes, procedures and policies.
- Provide documentation necessary so Procurement Office can place orders with vendors/subcontractors for service and materials. Ensure that the service and/or material being ordered is included in the contract and ensure that paperwork is completed properly before call is made.
- Review invoices to verify accuracy of charges and process for signature approval.
- Recognizes situations that could produce an unsafe working environment, fire hazard, and explosion or pose a threat to human health and the environment.
- Works from blueprints, equipment drawings and schematics, manufacturers' specifications and literature.
- Normal environment. Will require visits or assignments to site shop or production areas, test facilities, engineering labs, and office areas or customer sites.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required
- Work closely with site leadership and Facilities Engineering to develop and execute sustainability and retro-commissioning projects while implementing energy reduction plans.
- Work closely with local project management, Plant Engineering, and contractors to accomplish system commissioning or retro-commissioning to restore or improve system performance, achieve indoor environmental compliance, and meet current business needs.
- Suggest and implement system optimization schemes to reduce site energy consumption.
- Provide project management including cost estimating, financial budgeting and oversight, project implementation, coordination, and overall management from inception through completion
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Facilities Management/Facilities Engineering or similar engineering field
- US Citizenship
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Repetitive movement of hands and fingers (i.e., frequent computer use, typing and writing) frequent sitting. Indoor office environment
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- 5 years working experience in the Facilities Engineering/Project Manager role or similar
