In this position you will perform tests and inspections on low/medium voltage circuit breakers and switchboards, ground systems, motor control centers, medium voltage cables, two-winding transformers, protective relays, CTs, PTs and system function checks. The candidate will perform these functions per NETA ( InterNational Electrical Testing Association's (NETA), Maintenance Testing Specifications. This is to provide our customers with economic and safety related benefits.This program will also establish a base-line record to be utilized as an ongoing maintenance program to enhance safety, reliability and efficiency through future preventive maintenance. Specifications.)You will need computer skills including MS Office proficiency, use of internet for standards/products/manufacturer research, and specialty windows-based software including Infrared scanning, Power Quality analysis, Doble Protest, and so on.You must either have or be able to pass a NETA/ETTCI Level 2 electrical testing certification exam within 12 months of hire.You will be performing Electrical Maintenance on the systems mentioned above. As soon as equipment is installed, a process of normal deterioration begins.Unchecked, the deterioration process can cause equipment malfunction or an electrical failure. Deterioration can be accelerated by factors such as hostile environment, increased temperature or severe duty cycles.You will be providing a well-designed Electrical Preventive Maintenance program identifies and recognizes these factors and provides cost effective mitigation techniques.The maintenance of a facility's power system must be a planned effort. A well administered testing program can reduce accidents, save lives and minimize costly breakdowns and unplanned power outages.This is a day shift position, but you must be flexible as you may need to work some weekends, holidays and night work, as required by your client's needs.Travel is mostly day to day to job sites in driving distance of Chicago, but you may travel to other areas 15% of the time for 3-5 days at a time.Base pay depends on experience, once you get NETA Level 3 there is a big bump in pay.
