The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Designer is responsible for creating detailed electrical and instrumentation designs, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements, while collaborating closely with engineering and project teams.
Responsibilities - Develop detailed E&I designs, including wiring diagrams, panel layouts, loop diagrams, and equipment specifications
- Collaborate with engineers to interpret technical specifications and develop accurate design solutions
- Create and revise P&IDs, schematics, and control wiring diagrams based on project needs
- Select and specify appropriate instrumentation and control equipment to meet project standards
- Perform site assessments and surveys to gather data for design planning and validation
- Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, codes, and client requirements
- Support procurement by providing detailed BOMs (Bill of Materials) and vendor specifications
- Participate in design reviews, providing insights to optimize safety, quality, and efficiency
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of designs into broader project plans
- Maintain and organize design files and documentation for easy reference and regulatory compliance
Requirements - Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience with Autodesk Plant 3D/iConstruct/Navisworks/Bluebeam
- Familiarity with Excel and VBA
- Familiarity with P&IDs, industrial instrumentation (temperature, flow, level, pressure, etc.) and electrical cable routing
- Experience with detailed design engineering process in the development of a manufacturing plant
- Detail orientated and problem solver
- Ability to collaborate and coordinate electrical and instrumentation designs with other project disciplines including process, civil/structural and piping
