This position is responsible for working on electrical power generation equipment, transfer switches, and high voltage lines in hydroelectric generation plants, substations, and transmission lines.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES•Provide trouble shooting, maintenance, and advanced repair procedures on electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or mechanical controls for all Divisions.•Resistance, continuity, and voltage checks for all electric motors in all Divisions.•Report Shaft alignment, bearing, and heating problems to the appropriate supervisor.•Calibration and adjustment of electrical components for pressure, flow, or level indication devices, chemical feed equipment, and similar devices.•Coordination with service representatives and Chief Operators for necessary repairs.•Connection of all high-voltage leads.•Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and tests on electrical power generation equipment, transformers, circuit breakers, ground grids, pumps, motors, protective relay devices, meters, batteries, switchgear, and all associated equipment.•Maintain detailed documentation of preventive maintenance, inspections, and tests.•Assist with training employees under the GBRA Electrical Training Endorsement Program.•Remain available for duty in the event of an emergency.•Perform all work in a safe manner as required in the safety manual.o Use appropriate test procedures to verify equipment is de-energized.o Use grounds and the lock out-tag out procedure before beginning work.o Assist employees in developing safe work habits pertaining to electrical equipment.•Operate spillway gates as assigned so that adequate river flow, proper lake level and removal of river debris is accomplished as safely and effectively as possible.•Provide input into the electrical design portions of plans and specifications for construction projects as requested by supervisor.•Provide input to supervisor during the development of the work plan and annual budgets.•Make recommendations to leadership for major repairs or improvements.•Make recommendations to leadership for purchase of test equipment and spare parts.•Attend service schools or seminars, and reviewing current literature in order to stay abreast of new developments.•Perform additional duties as assigned.RequirementsKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES•Repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.•Communicate effectively with supervisors, technicians, engineers and trainees to provide and obtain needed information and instruction.•Read, understand and explain safety data sheets, instructions and labels, etc.•Ability to hear bells, horns, alarms, and any other audible indicators of message or emergency while inside operating hydroelectric generating stations, water and waste water treatment plants, or pump stations.•Work in adverse weather conditions.•Work weekends and nights when needed and respond with minimum delay.•Accurately interpret true colors.•Perform basic first aid and CPR.•Analyze and understand complex electrical/electronic circuit plan drawings.•Be knowledgeable of the policies and procedures relating to electrical safety.•Possess basic computer skills with the ability to modify and/or make setting changes to electronic equipment.•The permanent residence for Hydro employees must be such that roadway travel time from their place of residence to 933 E. Court Street, Seguin, TX is within 45 minutes. This response time must be achieved without violating speed limit laws.EDUCATIONHigh School diploma or equivalent.REGISTRATIONS/LICENSESTexas Driver's License (Commercial Driver's License is highly desirable).Acceptable M.V.R.Journeyman's License or higher preferred.EXPERIENCEMinimum of two years of electrical/electronic technical training, or five years' experience working with electrical power, electrical power generation equipment, substations, and/or electronic equipment including SCADA systems.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasional walking across terrains primarily on GBRA properties or sites.Employees must wear protective footwear in compliance with ANSI or ASTM standard. New employees are provided protective footwear. Replacement footwear is provided annually for qualifying employees.WORK ENVIRONMENTPersons in this position work out of the electrical/instrumentation shop at 933 East Court Street, Seguin, TX and travel throughout the Guadalupe River basin to repair and maintain electrical/electronic, control, and SCADA equipment located at all GBRA facilities. Work is approximately seventy (70) percent indoor and thirty (30) percent outdoor and is performed in electrical power plants, electrical substations, spillway operating piers, pump stations, water treatment plants, lift stations and wastewater treatment plants. They may be required to assist in repairing high voltage power lines as well. Persons in this position are subject to call at any time and under all weather conditions.TRAVELOvernight travel limited to meetings, training and/or continuing education classes.Salary Description PAY RANGE: $39,945.00 - $66,576.00
