Role Overview:
The Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Coordinator/Technician is responsible for implementing and managing the organization's lockout/tagout program to ensure the safety of employees when servicing or maintaining equipment. The role involves developing procedures, training employees, and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and company policies.
Requirements:
Program Management:- Develop, maintain, and update LOTO procedures for all applicable equipment and processes.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147, NFPA70(e) and other relevant safety regulations.
- Conduct regular audits of LOTO programs and procedures to ensure effectiveness.
Training & Communication:- Train employees and contractors on LOTO policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Serve as the point of contact for LOTO-related questions and issues.
- Communicate program changes and updates to relevant personnel.
Implementation & Oversight:- Oversee the proper application of LOTO procedures during maintenance or servicing activities
- Verify the use of approved locks, tags, and devices.
- Monitor and document compliance with LOTO protocols
Equipment Management:- Maintain an inventory of LOTO devices, locks, and tags.
- Ensure all LOTO equipment is inspected regularly and replaced as needed.
Incident Investigation:- Assist in investigating incidents or near misses related to LOTO.
- Develop corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional safety training or certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR) is a plus.
- 2 - 3 years of prior safety or EHS experience in a construction or industrial environment.
- Basic understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and interact with diverse personnel.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to a safety-oriented role.
Certifications:
- OSHA 510 or similar safety certifications.
- LOTO-specific training certification.
- NFPA70(e) training required
