Job Description:

Job Summary

Perform electrical and mechanical repairs on export terminal equipment and operate loading and unloading equipment when necessary.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

* Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)

* Diagnose and repair electrical component malfunctions

* Perform electrical and mechanical repairs to pier equipment such as lighting and heating, including both low voltage and high voltage repairs

* Install and maintain electrical wiring and equipment such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), electrical equipment 12VDC to 13,000VAC, generators, switchboards, meters, lighting systems, electric welding machines, weighing and scale systems, heating/air-conditioning units, motor control systems and various drive unit transformers

* Operate loading and unloading equipment such as overhead cranes, 100 ton coal car dumpers, ship loaders, conveyor belt systems and feeders, coal crushers and other equipment

* Perform electrical inspection, construction, maintenance, and repair activities on power distribution equipment such as: floodlight towers, power poles, moveable bridges, generators, turntables, air conditioning units, and other fixed electrical facilities.

* Install and maintain high and low voltage, overhead and underground wiring and equipment such as: switch heaters, control systems, conduits & cables, cross arms, pole mounted fixtures, transformers & capacitors, outdoor substation apparatus, air systems, fire alarm systems, motors & generators, yard/building power & lighting, heating systems, switchboards & meters, battery charging, systems, welding machines, and UPS systems.

* Understand, troubleshoot, install, maintain, and operate Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) associated with motor control systems

* Install and maintain all classes of exterior/interior wiring for electric, power and roadway lights, including overhead lines, up to 15kv

* Install and maintain electric systems and marine navigation lights.

* Handle testing instruments for measuring voltage, current, power, insulation resistance, etc.

* Work with power companies and other vendors to plan and complete job activities.

* Remove and replace defective poles and install conduits and conductors, dig by hand or mechanical means, and set poles with the aid of mechanical equipment.

* Operate one-man bucket attached to boom of line or bucket truck. May maneuver fiberglass one-man bucket attached to boom of line or bucket truck.

* Know the locations of cutouts and switches in areas of service in order to shorten power outages.

* Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager

Pay Rate

$46.16/hour full rate

Training

You will attend on the job training and orientation.

Schedule

Monday - Friday 0700 - 1530

Rest Days: Saturday and Sunday

NOTE: SCHEDULE SUBJECT TO CHANGE FOLLOWING INITIAL 90 DAY TRAINING PERIOD

Minimum Qualifications

* High School Diploma/GED

* 18 years of age or older

* Valid Driver's License

* Four years of experience working as an electrician in an industrial environment reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.

* Journeyman or Master Licensed Electrician

Physical Requirements

* Heavy work, lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basis

* Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/crawl/balance/climb

* Reach/handle/finger/feel

* Demonstrate auditory and visual acuity/tracking/inspection

* Meet CSX Fall Restraint Safety Requirements

* Safety Policy on Weight Limitations of Equipment

* Employees must complete the Weight Limitation Survey prior to bidding or bumping to any position that requires the Safety Policy on Weight Limitations of Equipment

Basic Competencies

Job Requirements

* Complete annual training and pass safety rules examinations.

* Federal regulations require random testing for drugs and/or alcohol.

* Must pass a background screening.

* Must pass a post-offer medical examination, including a drug test.

* Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, and the Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace (NFPA-70E)

* Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)

* This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement and membership is required.
