Job Description:
SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Electrical Engineer supports production and facility operations, equipment and process issues as they arise. They support electrical troubleshooting on equipment and processes. They also lead systemic improvements to equipment, processes and process controls.ORGANIZATION STRUCTUREThe Electrical Engineer reports to the Senior Facilities Engineer. The plant C&IS and FM Electrical technicians take direction from the Electrical Engineer for day to day direction setting, process improvement initiatives, and training.RESPONSIBILITIESPrimary responsibilities of this role include the following:
  • Support Electrical Continuous Improvement Projects.
    • Develop/analyze data to determine opportunities.
    • Define, develop, and execute improvement plans.
    • Maintains PLC software and PLC application backup systems.
    • Approves Electrical Standards for the plant.
  • Support current and incoming Facilities and Manufacturing processes.
    • Reviews and approves electrical technical documentation for correctness.
    • Approves Calibration procedures.
    • Approves Safe Practices and SOP's pertaining to Electrical Systems.
    • Programs and designs PLC, HMI and process vision systems.
    • Complete change controls to support electrical modifications.
    • Support the development of new processes by helping define Electrical requirements for incoming products.
    • Develop and execute Qualifications and Protocols.
  • Technical support with Electrical equipment breakdowns and process interruptions.
    • Guidance and training support for current C&IS and FM Electrical Technicians.
    • Technical resource to operations management team.
    • Lead Root Cause determination investigations.
    • Supports troubleshooting efforts.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 10 years of electrical experience in a manufacturing facility (preferable in pharmaceuticals or regulated environment) or a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with power distribution, PLC's, process instrumentation and instrument calibration.
  • Ability to use data in a systemic fashion to:
    • Determine Root Cause.
    • Drive out Solutions.
    • Assess current process trends.
    • Develop action plans.
    • Lead others through process improvement process.
  • This role requires strong technical writing and communication skills, the ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, and proficiency with a currently supported version of AutoCAD, MS Excel and Word. The ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment is necessary for success.
  • Experience in a regulated industry is preferred.
  • GMP DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY
  • Inputs to technical training and serves as resource in the development of training documentation.
  • Approves calibration procedures of production instrumentation and calibration documentation.
  • Approves validation documentation pertaining to electrical systems.
  • Technical input to quality investigations to determine possible causes and support root cause determination efforts.
