JOB SUMMARY The electrical product assembler role lies within our final assembly department. This role is responsible for making the connection from the internal assembly to the external assembly and adding on any external components (bushings, radiators, etc.). Employees in this role must develop skills in Tank Equipment, Wiring, Conduit, Drop In and Encasement. S/he may be responsible to perform repairs on units, parts, or incoming materials. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive assignments and instructions from supervisor - both verbal and written. Follows drawings, Bill of Materials, and other established manufacturing procedures. Coordinate and communicate with supervision and team leads
- Read and understand schedule and work flow requirements
- Get materials from storage areas, and complete kits with hardware and parts
- Be able to read, understand and follow guidelines set forth by Engineering Instructions and Manufacturing Procedures
- Able to read blueprints and assemble components per drawings provided and established standards.
- Inspect assemblies, product, processes, and materials for conformance to design criteria, applicable specifications, and inspection procedures
- Keep tools, equipment and work area clean and orderly. Visually check equipment to ensure it is in normal operating condition.
- Verify lifts and cranes before use (crane cable & limit switches)
- Perform minor equipment repairs and machine maintenance
- Use shop floor labor collection system accurately. Punch in and out of operations appropriately for all types of work (direct labor, indirect labor, rework, etc).
- Write maintenance work orders for damaged tooling and equipment when necessary.
- Ability to utilize computer system to review procedures, drawings, non-conformances, etc.
- Perform work in other departments as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures and policies of the company
- Will perform repair work on oily components inside and outside of the tank as required.
- Keep tools, equipment and work area clean and orderly. Train on 5S principles.
- Assist in training of new operators.
- Investigate potential and actual non-conformances, and recommend corrective action
- May work in Med Power, Large Power or EHV product lines
- Weld components with appropriate techniques (optional)
- Perform other work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Utilize portable scaffold and steps, ladders, radial and band saw, vacuum cleaner, hydraulic jacks, threading machine, hi-press crimpers, grinder, stud gun, hand drill, pneumatic wrenches, mallet, sledge, pry bars, blocks, wire stripper, hand crimper, overhead jib crane, chains, slings, vacuum pumps, forklift truck, air bearings
- Able to operate various machines including wire crimpers, heat guns, air pallets, punches, sanders, band saws, grinders, stud welders, pipe threaders, shears, drilles, welders, plasma cutters, and other related equipment.
- Materials used in this position include tanks, covers, current transformers, tap changers, gear assemblies, oil gauges, pressure gauge, cabinets, housings, bushings, operating mechanisms, finished transformers, flanges, lightning arrestors, wood, steel rod, nitrogen and others. Breaker stands, breaker poles, breaker C.T.'s, galvanized steel beams, & SF6 gas
- Often works at heights up to 15' or more.
- Work varies from working at ground level to working in, on top of, and around the sides of the transformer tank.
- Operations require mental and visual concentration to ensure compliance with engineering and quality specifications
- Position requires hand and eye coordination to make adequate welds meeting various welding specifications for in plant certification, if welding
- Must have the ability to access and work in confined spaces, which includes 18-24 manhole access.

Physical Demands Must be able to stand for extended periods. Must be able to occasionally sit, walk. Climb, balance, push, pull, carry, and work below waist level and foot use.
