Responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of motors, generators, and high voltage equipment, the technician ensures the plant's reliability and safety. Primary Functions
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal, and communication systems.
- Perform electrician work at the journey level, including the installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and controls.
- Maintain plant DC emergency battery backup systems.
- Perform 480V -13.8KV and high voltage switchyard basic electrical systems maintenance (consistent with electrical safety practices).
- Inspect, test, and maintain electrical systems, including high voltage systems.
- Use all tools, equipment, and materials responsibly, conducting basic inspections and preventive maintenance prior to use.
- Perform electrical system isolations following industry standards as required and train others in Electrical Safety programs.
- Fill out job or shift report forms, as assigned.
- Perform work of other classifications, as necessary.
- Respond to emergencies at any time of day or night, as directed.
- Perform work in a safe manner, resulting in no accidents, and in compliance with all safety procedures and environmental permits at all times.
- Effectively communicate information to supervision and fellow plant personnel regarding the condition of plant equipment and performance, providing suggestions for plant improvements.
- Regularly inspect electrical equipment and systems to identify potential issues, proactively addressing them to prevent unplanned downtime.
- Collaborate with other technicians, operators, and maintenance personnel to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with overall plant operations.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance, ensuring comprehensive and up-to-date records for future reference and analysis.
- Participate in planned outages by providing technical support for maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections of electrical systems.
- May be assigned additional tasks that are reasonably expected.

Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.).Work with hazardous materials may be required.Fitness for DutyAll employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. Work ScheduleThis position follows a Monday to Friday work schedule during regular day shift hours. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions. On call status will periodically be required.CompensationStarting compensation will be $40.49 per hour.Job Qualifications
- A high school or trade school diploma or the equivalent plus four years of journeyman electrician experience desired.
- Previous experience as an Journeyman Electrician, or relevant military background, preferably within a power plant or heavy industrial setting, showcasing a robust understanding of electrical systems.
- Proficiency in inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing a wide array of electrical equipment, including motors, generators, transformers, switches, and control systems.
- Hands-on experience working with voltages ranging from 480V to 13.8KV and familiarity with high voltage switchyard basic electrical systems maintenance, adhering to safety practices.
- Proven track record of executing electrical system isolations in accordance with industry standards, coupled with the ability to impart training on Electrical Safety programs.
- Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment and have excellent organizational skills.
- Strong personal computer skills to facilitate various tasks, including documentation, communication, and data analysis.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License at all times.
