- Monitors the activities of Contractors to ensure compliance with Enviva and OSHA safety practices
- Responsible for the day to day Contractor construction activities on site
- Ensures the Contractor has Weekly Work Packages built to execute the work per crew and craft and is planning their work on a weekly, 3 week, and 3 month basis
- Ensures the Contractor has safe and productive Method Statements for executing their scope of work and is adhering to these means and methods
- Interfaces between Project / Field Engineers on all Request for Information to resolve discrepancies between field conditions and engineered drawings
- Provides additional information to Project Engineers, Field Engineers, and the Engineer of Record as needed to address and Technical Issues
- Develops construction techniques and methods that will allow the craft to work safer, accelerate schedule, and reduce construction costs
- Assists the Contract Manager with ensuring the Contractor is meeting their project schedule and coordinates with Contractor to mitigate risks, accelerate production, and recover schedules as needed
- Writes scope of work for Contractors
- Validates the Contractors daily and weekly manpower and ensures that the Contractor is adequately staffed to meet their schedule
- Reviews the Contractor's mobilization plan for crews, temporary facilities and equipment, construction equipment, and construction materials to ensure it meets the overall project execution plan
- Assists the Material Control Manager with the Permanent Material control including tracking of material deliveries from Enviva vendors, receiving permanent material deliveries including Overage Shortage and Damage Reporting, coordinating crane lifts to receive material, material transfer and receipt from Enviva to Contractors
- Witnesses and Inspects all activities at agreed upon hold points per the Inspection and Test Plan, under the guidance of the Project Quality Assurance Manager, to ensure it meets engineered drawings, specifications, and qualify craftsmanship
- Ensures all permanent material is being stored and maintained properly throughout the construction phase including verifying that preventative maintenance is being performed according to vendor requirements and construction best practices
Requirements:
- Subject matter expert in medium/low voltage equipment, network equipment, instrumentation, and controls.
- Above average interpersonal, listening and communication skills with the ability to build trust among all project stakeholders
- Ability to work long hours and is a self starter needing minimal direction.
- Ability to influence stakeholders to promote the completion of the project safely and on time.
- Knowledge of construction inspection and materials testing practices, procedures, techniques, calculations, and instruments.
- Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws, codes and standards related to construction inspection including AWS.
- Knowledge of construction equipment.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, contracts, and plans and prepare technical materials and reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, contractors and developers including the public.
- 10+ years of Pulp & Paper, Heavy Industrial, or Oil & Gas Construction experience at a Foreman level or higher
- Associates Degree / BS or higher is preferred
- Above average computer skills in MS Office suite and Navisworks Model Viewer
Working Conditions:
- May involve evening and weekend hours depending on construction schedule.
- Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in heat, rain, and cold. Able to work weekends and evenings as required by the project schedule.
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 °F and below 32 °F.
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to easily navigate on foot an operating construction site daily, including climbing stairs and scaffolding, walking through uneven and rough terrain, and entering confined spaces (as necessary).
- Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day.
- Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
- Willing and able to pull and lift, up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
