Job DescriptionDescriptionThe Electrical Technician will performskilled work in the installation, repair and maintenance of assigned electrical and electronic systems, apparatus, fixtures, motors, motor controls, instruments, wiring, fire and access systems belonging to the College.The Electrical Technician will install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring and fixtures, electrical motors, motor controls and meters, and electronic card access systems, game well system and electrical and electronic fire systems. This position will troubleshoot problems in electrical or electronic systems and equipment, including harmonics and power quality, and accomplish computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.The Electrical Technician will determine wire size to be used, be able to utilize volt meter, and utilize the computer to provide written reports as directed by the Director of Maintenance. This position will follow safe work practices and utilizes all appropriate personal protective equipment, and perform assigned Preventive Maintenance.The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job. - Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years working on electrical systems.
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems.
- Knowledge of electronic card access systems.
- Knowledge of motor controls.
- Have a valid driver's license.
- Knowledge of the National Electric Code.
- Knowledge of computers and e-mail.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Lighting conversion to LED.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relations between work associates and supervisors.
- Knowledge of fiber optics.
