Job Title: Lead Electrical Technician
Location: Santa Barbara County
Pay Rate: $33 - $44
Definition/Summary:
The Electrical Technician is directly responsible to the Foreman for ensuring that all electrical equipment within the plant is maintained and operates to the highest standards. They will be both knowledgeable and qualified to carry out their designated work. A successful Electrical Technician is a fast learner, self-motivated and has the ability to work under pressure in varying conditions. All work and tasks are to be performed in a safe and efficient manner. The responsibilities include but not limited to:
Duties:
- To assist in carrying out controlled startups and shutdowns of the plant under supervision from management
- To perform maintenance routines and equipment repairs on all electrical equipment with and without supervision
- To complete defect and maintenance reports
- To ensure all planned maintenance is carried out effectively
- To ensure breakdowns and defects are dealt with in a timely fashion
- Reporting all defects on the MMS software
- To inform the Foreman of parts and materials that require ordering
- Perform work and maintenance tasks
- Ensure all plant equipment is maintained in accordance with manufactures guidelines and manuals
- Ability to diagnose faults on equipment down to component level
- Ability to follow instructions given by the Foreman
- Maintain all plant and equipment integrity
- Monitoring the performance and operation of the plant through the SCADA Interface
- Identify and notify the Foreman of any irregularities found during working hours
- Run performance test on RO stands as required
- Rectify defects that are recorded in the defects book
- Maintain an organized, tool and workshop area
- Assist in the clean-up of the RO facility and around the plant
- Assist in any new installations and/or fabrication of modular units
- To ensure work is performed properly and safety
- Attend and training relating to the Plant at the discretion of the Company
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance where possible
Experience:
- Prior operational experience in an industrial environment working on equipment up to 11kV 3-phase switchgear, motor control centers, and power distribution preferred
- Ability to test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system
- Experience with instruments such as: flow, pH, pressure, conductivity meters, etc. preferred
- Experience working in the operations of RO plants preferred
- Ability to read and understand manuals in English
- Ability to diagnose malfunctioning system, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
- Ability to connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and P&ID
- Experience using computers programs such as: CMMS, Microsoft Office is a plus
- Ability to work weekends, overtime, and holiday when necessary
- Ability to work overtime and be on 24 hour call when needed
- Successfully pass a background and drug test
- Experience handling/working with HAZARD chemicals
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance where possible
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Current CA Electrical Apprentice certification or higher is a plus
- Possession of a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and over 51lbs with assistance
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, balance, push/pull, and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to enter and exit small confined spaces
- Finger dexterity to work keyboard or operate tools, grasp tools and carry objects
- Ability to see in the normal range of vision with or without correction sufficient to read computer screens, documents, dials, gauges, meter-reading equipment, and operate motor vehicles and equipment
