Electrical TechnicianLocationWater Treatment Operations PBWork StatusFull TimeTHIS POSITION IS OPEN UNTIL FILLED!!SALARY: $19.90 - 24.88 Hourly USDJOB SUMMARY:Under general supervision, performs corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on the electrical components, PLCs, andinstrumentation in the water and wastewater systems.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Perform corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance of the electrical components, PLCs, and instrumentation using a computerized maintenance management system at facilities including but not limited to:Water treatment plants.Elevated storage tanks.Pump stations.Lift station equipment including complex.Specialized and/or high voltage (4160) systems and equipment.This Includes providing status updates and escalating concerns to management.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:Perform general procurement activities, including ordering and receiving materials, equipment, and other supplies.Perform security checks of department facilities, equipment, and work activities at locations including but not limited to:Water treatment plants.Elevated storage tanks.Lift stations.Pump stations.Lake Arlington Dam.Respond to customer requests and assist in conducting special projects and studies for management as requested.Perform general maintenance activities.Available for the on-call rotation which entails twenty-four/seven (24/7) emergency call-out.Inclement weather conditions may require additional support and operational readiness.Considered Essential Personnel during emergency or advisory conditions and will be required to report for duty, if called.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Knowledge of office and administrative practices and procedures. Knowledge of theory, practices, tools, and equipment used in electrical/instrumentation preventative maintenance and repairs.Knowledge of the National Electric Code and other rules and standards pertaining to electrical/instrumentation construction and maintenance of equipment and systems.Knowledge of water treatment and wastewater collection processes and systems.Knowledge of function and assembly of electrical/instrumentation equipment.Knowledge of safety equipment and procedures.Knowledge of advanced math.Skill in reading and interpreting drawings, electrical plans, ladder logic and diagrams of electronic circuitry.Skill in using PC Software including current Microsoft Office Suite of applications. Skill in communicating professionally and tactfully with other city employees and the public by oral and written means. Skill with organization and attention to detail. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment utilizing knowledge of the organization's policies. Ability to work independently under general instructions. Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including but not limited to carrying, climbing heights up to 150 feet, dragging, driving, filing, holding, kneeling, lifting up to 100 pounds, pulling, pushing, seeing, sorting, squatting, standing, stooping, twisting body, typing, walking, and writing. Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including but not limited to PC, telephone, calculator, scanner, and copier. Ability to prioritize deadlines and tasks. Ability to learn new systems and procedures quickly. Ability to plan, organize, monitor, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish unit objectives.Ability to understand mathematical calculations involving fractions, percentages, and decimals.Ability to work within a set schedule.Ability to operate a motor vehicle.Ability to use the computerized maintenance management system.Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound.Ability to organize tasks.Ability to become familiar with and carry out documented procedures from reference documents including Lake Arlington Operations and Maintenance Manual, Security Plan, and Emergency Action Plan.Incumbent is subject to fume/odor, dust/mites, chemical, toxic waste, mechanical, electrical, radiation, and explosive hazards. Qualifying Education andExperience: High School diploma Vocational/technical training including course work in computer science, electrical and instrument repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment and National Electric Code and other rules and standards.Minimum of one (1) year's related experience in the electrical/instrumentation installation and repair field.Possession of valid Texas Operator's Licenses, Class C.Possession of a current Journeyman Electrical License.Must obtain a Class D Water Operator's License from TCEQ within five (5) months of employment.Employment ScreeningsRequired: Criminal background checkHuman Performance Evaluation (HPE) Physical ExaminationDrug and Alcohol Testing Motor Vehicle ReportCardiopulmonary Function Testing (PFT)Pre-Employment ScreeningsRequired: Quantitative Fit Testing (QNFT)
