Position Summary Position Summary Installs, tests, inspects, maintains, and repairs electric lights, power distribution circuits, controls, and appliances throughout the Orlando Health facilities. Responsibilities Essential Functions Collaborates with other members of the Engineering staff as required. Orders necessary stock and makes emergency repairs without prior approval. Receives work orders and coordinates work to fit schedule as assigned by Lead Electrician. Estimates time and materials required on work orders. Maintains facility power distribution systems, mechanical alarm and medical gas alarm systems. Repairs electric motors, controllers and other auxiliary electrical devices. Installs new wiring and electrical machinery. Works from prints and diagrams to determine layout, location, and specifications of items to install. Bends and installs conduit. Installs concealed wiring. Isolates and repairs defective circuits as required. Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition following prescribed safety regulations. Assists the fire alarm testing company as needed to maintain facility fire alarm system. Reports any defective materials, faulty equipment, or engineering errors on drawings or specifications to Lead Electrician, Chief Engineer or department Manager. Maintains the facility's electrical distribution systems according to the national, state, and local electrical codes and facility regulatory agencies. Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions Maintains professional appearance at all times. Participates in scheduled department meetings. Maintains the confidentiality and security of all data and information relating to the facility, medical staff and patients. Abides by all relevant facility policies and procedures. This position requires training in the following areas: blood-borne pathogens, fire safety, right-to-know, chemical hygiene, and infection control. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent. Licensure/Certification Journeyman Electrician license issued by the State of Florida - renewed biannually. Valid Florida driver's license with no more than six (6) points, at least 21 years of age, and must be insurable under the Orlando Health insurance carrier's requirements and standards. Experience Four (4) years' experience as an Electrician or Electrician's Helper.
