This hiring approach is called Direct Hiring Authority (DHA) which allows the Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) to hire applicants from the general public with no prior federal civilian or Veteran status.This opportunity can close at any time so we highly encourage you to apply as soon as possible.Hourly Rate is $38.85 - $45.33 based on experience.(Not including overtime, holiday pay, annual or within-grade pay increases)***Recruitment/Relocation incentives will also be offered based on qualifications and experience.***Air Force Civilian Service Benefits:Paid Time Off-11 Federal Holidays each year-13 sick leave days earned per year (accumulative)Paid Vacation Time-13-26 days per year based on length of employmentHealth Insurance-No waiting period to qualify for you and your familyRetirement-Immediate coverage by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS)-Basic Benefits Plan-Social Security-Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), similar to a 401(k) (Automatically receive 1% agency contributions and up to 5% matching)DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:-Installs, repairs or replaces, modifies, loads, and tests new and existing fire alarm systems, electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls located in and near installation buildings and structures.-Troubleshoots problem areas and inspects for defective equipment and faulty wiring. Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals to determine the necessary and proper repairs and/or replacements.-Uses and maintains various types of hand and/or power tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines. In addition, uses a wide variety of test equipment including test lamps, multimeters, circuit analyzers, circuit breaker testers, voltage recording meters, meggers, watt meters, ohmmeters, and ammeters.-Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing. Additionally, must be familiar with current NFPA, NEC, and UFC requirements for fire alarm and electrical systems. Will be required to drive motor vehicle and will adhere to all safety and traffic laws.RECRUITMENT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):-Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.-Knowledge of technical practices in order to plan, lay out, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of complete systems.-Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and instruments used in shop and trade practices, and of electrical equipment, i.e., test lamps, multimeters, circuit analyzers, circuit breaker testers, voltage recording meters, meggers, watt meters, ohmeters, and ammeters.-Skill in using and maintaining hand tools such as, screwdrivers, pliers, wirecutters, strippers, cable pullers, drills, soldering irons, and manual or power conduit benders and threaders.-Skill in troubleshooting and tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems.-Ability to use electrical drawings, blueprints, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams and to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various electrical systems, controls, and equipment without more than normal supervision.Click the apply button to complete an application and upload resume (PDF or Word Doc) and/or additional documents (Transcripts, certifications, Vet Docs (DD214), SF-50).
