Overview

Under the direction of the Plant Operations Supervisor, this position requires knowledge of all the electro-mechanical systems of the hospital and outbuildings. Knowledge of safety equipment to maintain these systems as well as the safety equipment used in health care facilities is a must. The incumbent will work from blueprints and use and maintain hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

* Ensures that good relationships and communications are maintained with patients, visitors and staff.

* All urgent requests are handled in a timely manner.

* Repairs are made correctly and completely

* Perform minor carpentry, painting, plastering and electro-mechanical repairs.

* Shop and mechanical rooms are kept clean and free of unnecessary items.

* The Supervisor is informed on all projects to that the appropriate communications can be maintained with other departments.

* Additional training and/or self-development is required to maintain and update skills necessary to operate and repair current and new equipment.

* Suggestions for improvement of equipment or management policies are to be made to the Plant Operations Supervisor/Manager.

* Logs and records are to be maintained in accordance to all SOPs.

* Must be capable of self-evaluation to improve productivity.

* Understands, observes and complies with all safety precautions and procedures of the department and hospital.

* Performs assigned dutes during a fire, internal and external disasters, codes and drills.

* Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

* High school graduate or equivalent

* Must have a general knowledge of all Hosptial elecro-mechanical equipment and systems

* Must have ability to read and understand blueprints

* Basic understanding of carpentry, painting, plastering and concrete maintenance work

* Ability to operate all Hospital electro-mechanical systems.

* Shift: 0700-1530 M-F rotating weekends;
