SUMMARY
Performs journeyman level electrical skills in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems according to the National Electric Code in education facilities under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. Ensures the safe and economical usage of electricity for South Plains College.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs basic electrical installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance while maintaining all aspects of electrical and industry safety codes.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to deal with customers, shop personnel and other trades personnel within the department.
Working knowledge of operation and safe use of all power and hand tools/equipment to complete daily tasks. Some of the equipment include: drills, power saw, oxygen/acetylene torch, and soldering and brazing equipment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Working knowledge and ability to perform skills of the electrical field with voltages ranging from 24 to 600 volts.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Valid Texas Driver's License and proof of Insurability.
Minimum 2 years electrical maintenance experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Proficiency in interpretation of freehand sketches, schematics, blueprints, as-built drawings, diagrams and technical publications related to the position.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Texas motor vehicle operator's license and insurability.
Electrcial License- preferred Journeyman or higher license.
