Location: Conroe,TX, USA
The position will report to the Houston field office but responsible for stations in Conroe, Texas, Bryan, Texas and Plantersville, Texas. Work schedule is Monday - Friday; will work weekends and holidays as part of an on-call schedule rotation. On-call duties would be on-call for 7 days every other week. While on-call, the position would also cover areas of Grapeland and Huntsville in addition to other location responsibilities.
The Electro-Mechanical Technician is primarily responsible for maintaining, repairing, testing, adjusting, and assisting in the installation and removal of all electrical, mechanical, communication, control, and measurement equipment at assigned locations; performing a variety of operations, maintenance, and construction tasks to maintain safe operations of the pipeline and its related facilities; and ensuring the facility is operated and maintained in compliance with all Company and applicable regulatory standards and practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position, but is not meant to be all inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary.
1. Complies with DOT and OSHA health, safety and environmental requirements and follows safety philosophy and procedures developed by the Company including: applicable environmental, health and safety rules, procedures, and accepted safe work practices, the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems, and the reporting of workplace hazards and injury or illness arising from workplace activities; observes the workplace to identify conditions or behaviors that should be corrected and takes appropriate action.
2. Tests and inspects assigned equipment by monitoring performance and operating specialized mechanical and electronic testing equipment.
3. Maintains assigned mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment by making adjustments and repairs as needed.
4. Compiles records and analyzes operating data on equipment.
5. Maintains equipment spare parts inventory and operates and maintains technicians' tools equipment, and assigned vehicle.
6. Recommends equipment design changes, gives technical guidance, and suggests procedures for proper and efficient use of equipment.
7. Contacts and confers with factory technical representatives.
8. Installs non-contract equipment additions and modifications.
9. Works with third party contractor on R/W encroachments.
10. Acts as company inspector on construction and maintenance project performed by outside contractors.
11. Assists with on-the-job training of new technicians.
12. Performs all other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.
13. Performs maintenance associated with upkeep, cleanliness, and appearance of pipeline right-of-way, terminal, and station facilities.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
* An Associate's degree in electronics/electrical, instrumentation or a related technical field or its equivalent in experience is required. Experience as an operations/maintenance technician, or previous experience in electronics and mechanics is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Ability to actively engage in safe behavior and understand and follow the principles and methods related to pipeline and workplace safety as established by the Company.
* Knowledge of emergency and safety procedures, policies procedures, equipment operating parameters, and all applicable DOT, EPA, FERC, DHS and OSHA requirements.
* Knowledge of system operation, pipeline and facility layout, and equipment capability.
* Ability to work without direct supervision to accomplish goals and meet schedules.
* Knowledge of math, general science, hydraulics and strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
* Ability to think logically and remain calm in stressful situations.
* Knowledge of equipment, processes, and physical ability to accomplish the task as assigned.
* Ability to safely drive and maneuver company vehicles.
* Ability to prepare and analyze data and figures.
* Ability to test, setup, troubleshoot, and maintain a variety of electronic/electrical and mechanical equipment to include but not limited to electrical motors (medium and low voltage), flow computers, programmable logic controllers (PLC), personal computers (PC), routers and switches, fluid level instruments such as radar gauges, AC and DC relay systems, switchgear, breakers, motor control centers, contactors, electrical and hydraulic, valve actuators, centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, pump seals, as well as various instrument and control equipment.
Ability to use various tools in the performance of of the above duties to include but not limited to digital and analog multimeters, dead weight tester, calibrated gauges, safety equipment, electrical power tools, electric shop crane and hoist, frequency counter, oscilloscope, line finder, probe bar, pipe threading equipment (electric and manual), ladders, and safety harness.

* Occasionally required to exert up to 70 pounds of force to move objects.
* Frequently required to operate cars, trucks, forklifts, cranes and high lift equipment and machinery including drill presses and power saws as necessary.

* Walking and climbing of ladders or stairs is required.
* Ability to complete visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines (including inspection), using measurement devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Normal color vision (no color blindness) and ability to hear within normal hearing range including use of hearing devices as needed to reach normal hearing range is required for the position.
