Work Shifts 8:00 A.M - 4:00 P.M Job Description Purpose: Under the general supervision of the Cardiology Director, the incumbent will perform technical duties within Cardiology. The incumbent is directly involved with monitoring, conducting and analyzing test, reporting all the activities and adhere to the principles of an EKG Technician. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: The Electrocardiograph Technician is charged with and responsible for:

  • Performs 12 -Lead electrocardiograms
  • Reports malfunctioning of equipment to EKG supervisor
  • Prepare and sorts EKG's and billing slips for attending to confirm diagnosis
  • Edits EKG's per attending instructions and log EKG into computer database
  • Report to the appropriate medical staff any abnormalities that require immediate attention
  • Executing EKG services according to the hospital and departmental procedures
  • Adheres to all hospital and departmental guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Maintaining EKG equipment
  • The ability to explain test procedure and answer any question or concerns that may arise
  • Attending additional training programs as required
  • Adheres to the departmental attendance policy
  • Demonstrates knowledge of proper patient positioning, technique, and equipment setting, producing high-quality exam
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from a Senior High School or possession of a High School Equivalency Diploma and one year experience as an Electrocardiograph Technician in an approved hospital or in the office of a recognized Cardiologist; or,
  • A satisfactory equivalent.
