Pajarito Powder seeks an Electrochemist/ MEA Engineer to support the organization in our scale-up. This is a high energy position with diverse responsibilities that requires diligence and organization. This position will work with the development of MEA designs for new products for customers. MEAs are a key part of fuel cell systems, and their performance and durability are significantly affected by their design. You will apply electrochemistry/engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.
Principle Tasks
- Prepare and release engineering documentation (e.g. analysis reports, MEA drawings, specifications, and DFMEA)
- Employ MEA models to help understand performance and durability implications of different MEA design options
- Work with team to ensure alignment between analysis and verification data
- Support translation of MEA and higher-level requirements into subcomponent requirements for Research teams
- Work with cell designers and component owners to ensure design targets are achievable
- Develop proposals and scopes of work, quality control, and budget management
- Analyze root causes, map processes and propose corrective actions
- Create process and instruction sheets to support quality methods and processes
- Ensure compliance with plant, corporate, governmental and environmental standards
- Support ISO 14001 compliance as well as internal ISO auditing/compliance
- Identify throughput constraints and drive root cause improvements
- Work closely with R&D teams, development engineering, analytical team, and raw material suppliers for internal scale-up and manufacturing of new raw materials used in advanced applications
- Specific duties may vary depending on the needs of the department or program.
Education, Training, and Experience required
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related disciples from an accredited school – Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Integrated Engineering preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in fuel cells – MEA experience preferred
- Understanding of CCM and MEA manufacturing processes an asset
- Proficiency in engineering tools like FMEA and Six Sigma skills an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with structured problem-solving methods
- Strong organization and analytical skills
- Proven ability to work quickly and reliably while under pressure
- Outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills
- Demonstrate a collaborative R&D mindset and ability to work well in and/or lead a cross-functional environment, building strong relationships and driving results
- Self-motivated and driven to succeed

Additional Information/Requirements
Must be willing to relocate to and work onsite in Albuquerque, NM.
