Job Title: Electronic Equipment Repairperson Department: Maintenance General Summary Under general supervision, the Repairperson is responsible for installation, basic diagnosis and repair of mechanical and electronic fare handling devices, electronic control devices, signage, public address, radio, video camera and audio recording equipment, and related equipment. Duties and Responsibilities
- Repairs damaged mechanical and electronic fare handling equipment.
- Performs lock changes and clears jams.
- Performs first-level electronic systems repairs, typically by means of unit or component exchange.
- Writes repair schedules and maintains complete and up-to-date repair records, documenting service activities and component movements as required.
- Performs cleaning and manufacturer-prescribed preventative maintenance on fare handling and other electronic equipment and ensures their proper operation.
- Requisitions replacement parts, and maintains inventory in secured area.
- Performs basic radio repairs consisting of replacing failed transmit/receive units, data or control heads, Mobile Data Terminals, microphones and other electronic components and other general maintenance as required.
- Provides electronic system diagnostic and repair instruction to less experienced Repairpersons.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications: Education:
- High School education supplemented by four years of experience in areas of electronic vehicle electrical systems education and experience including Automotive Service Excellence Certification (ASE) H6,
- Electrical/Electronic Systems or electronic classes from an accredited college.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Mechanic or equivalent position preferred*.
- Machine repair, and/or sheet metal fabrication.
- Some experience in repair of vehicular electronic systems and other electronic devices and/or, preferably the ability to perform field repair of radios video camera and audio recording equipment and/or fare handling equipment; ability to perform metal forming, cutting and glass replacement; an equivalent combination of education and experience ma ted for minimum requirements; ability to use computer maintenance information system.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
