Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Designs, programs, and builds PLC circuits for use in upgrading existing equipment and building new machinery.Designs and builds barcode interface boxes to integrate all types of barcodesystems used in the plant to the different types of machinery used for packaging.Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.Pulls wiring through conduit.Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.Connects power cables to equipment, such as OEM packaging machinery and supporting equipment, and installs grounding leads.Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohm meter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.Repairs faulty equipment or systems.Works with Engineering in concept and design of new equipment and repair upgrade of existing equipment.Troubleshoot, setup and repair vision systems.Troubleshoots and repairs all electrical problems on all pieces of equipment in the Allentown facility.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervises 1 employee. Oversees outside electrical contractors when applicable.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Master Electrician License preferred but not necessary. Knowledge of National Electrical Code. License required for New Jersey.
