Job Type Full-timeDescriptionActive Security is seeking a highly motivated, independent, resourceful, experienced security technician willing to perform essential installations and service functions at customer sites in the North Texas and surrounding areas. Concentration of work includes the DFW metropolitan area, with occasional travel locations outside of the region.SUMMARYThis position is an experienced technical professional with advanced ability to install, program, maintain and repair industrial security equipment and associated cabling & infrastructure while ensuring work is in accordance with relevant codes, customer requirements, and internal company standards. The Level 3 Technician is expected to be able to perform the functions of the position without supervision, and apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the execution of their duties.In addition to possessing advanced technical abilities, the Level 3 Technician must also be capable of performing as The Lead Technician on a project site, which includes performing direct support and coordination with customers, project managers, project engineers, and superintendents. A Level 3 Technician should be equally capable in break/fix services and installation projects.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONSThe Level 3 Technician's management responsibilities include:
- Accountable for the site safety, quality, schedule and cost on assigned projects.
- Responsible for assuring availability of resources with proper expertise and tools to support assigned integrated security project execution.
- Serves as main point of contact between Project Manager and crew members
- Responsible for overseeing 4-5 crew members.
- Reports project status and performance data as required to management.
- Mentors and Trains junior technicians and team members.
- Ensures Quality Management practices, customer and internal standards are enforced.
The Level 3 Technician's technical responsibilities include:
- Install, configure, and maintain electronic security systems for clients with minimal supervision.
- Test and troubleshoot systems to ensure they are operating effectively and generate work order reports and associated documentation.
- Conduct routine maintenance and upgrades on security systems.
- Provide training and technical support to clients.
- Respond to emergency service calls as needed.
- Complete necessary paperwork and documentation for each job.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
- Train and supervise junior technicians.
Examples of work to be performed:
- Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, floors, and other areas as required.
- Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements and installation procedures have been met.
- Install, maintain, or repair security systems, alarm devices, CCTV, and related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
- Mount and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, and video cameras, and attach low voltage wiring in order to connect components.
- Mount raceways and conduits, and fasten wires to metal & concrete framing, using a variety of techniques.
- Test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications.
- Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, and all security features in order to ensure proper functioning, and to diagnose malfunctions.
- Keep informed of new products and industrial developments.
- Request orders for replacement parts. Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
- Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves hardware, software, and basic network related problems encountered by end-users of the network.
- Possess a basic understanding of IPV4 and newer, and how to assig an IP address.
- Interface with customers and present a professional and competent appearance on the worksite.
- Maintain company property including specialized tools & equipment, vehicles, and machinery.
- Lead teams onsite and provide training and mentoring for junior technicians.
RequirementsQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A comprehensive knowledge of integrated security systems is required. This position requires periodic drug testing, a valid driver's license, Background Check and ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance. The level 3 Technician is expected to possess the necessary hand tools, power tools, meters, and essential trade equipment to perform the assigned duties AND be able to lead and mentor teams of junior technicians. The Level 3 Technician must be organized and capable of detailed project documentation, quality assurance, and customer service.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE A minimum of 5 years' experience related to the job duties of this position is required. A minimum of four Accredited and / or Manufacturer's Certifications in electronic security systems installation and maintenance is preferred. Certifications in the following systems are highly preferred:

- IDENTIV
- LENEL
Experience and certification with network-based security systems is preferred. Experience with advanced programming and integration techniques and systems administration skills is preferred.LANGUAGE SKILLS Communicates effectively in both oral and written communications. The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent prolonged periods of standing, bending, pulling, twisting, reaching, climbing and standing.WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this position; the employee may be exposed to weather conditions from 100 degrees to below 0 degrees and exposed to various climates and conditions. Wearing of safety clothing and equipment may at times be required. Sensitive, high security facilities such as detention centers, data centers, and Government facilities are typical work locations. Employees must be procedurally organized and capable of high levels of professional and personal conduct. Employees must be capable of exhibiting a high level of professional conduct and be self-sufficient while traveling in support of company operations.
