Position Type: Student Support ServicesDate Posted: 3/16/2023Location: Flint Cultural Center AcademyEFFECTIVE DATE: 2022/2023 School Year6 Hours a Day Monday through Friday Student Days Responsibilities: The Instructional Interventionist is responsible for assisting certified staff and other ancillary staff in the support of instructional, behavioral, health-related, and activities in the assigned area of responsibility. The paraprofessional may be assigned as a one-on-one assistant or in a classroom situation. Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to):
- Provides program support in instructional and related activities in the assigned area of responsibility for students with and without special disabilities under the direction of certificated, licensed and ancillary staff.
- When requested, may be included as a participant in Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meetings.
- Assists with the implementation of instructional activities based on student goals and objectives as written in the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Reinforces, supplements and accommodates the regular education curriculum under the direction and supervision of certificated, licensed and ancillary staff.
- Provides input to behavior intervention plan meetings and/or other meetings with staff for the development of individualized behavior intervention plans for students, as requested.
- Implements established procedures and interventions in accordance with individualized behavior intervention plans and district policies/guidelines which includes data collection
- Assists with de-escalation and management of behavior
- Assists in the operation of adaptive equipment/technology
- Assists with lifting and movement of students as needed
- Assists with meals, play, recreational and other activities, as required, in the assigned area of responsibility
- Assist with health care and personal care needs of students
- Assist with student arrival and/or dismissal
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by teacher or school administrator
- Demonstrates mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting requirements for this position
Qualifications:
- All applicants MUST meet State guidelines for Highly Qualified Paraprofessionals:
- 60 hours college credit OR
- an Associates Degree OR
- have passed a State-approved test (Work Keys, Michigan Test for Teacher Certification: Basic Skills Test, etc.)
- Provide a list of work and personal references
- Must successfully complete a LiveScan Criminal Records Check
- Oral and written communication skills
