Position Type: Elementary School TeachingDate Posted: 11/15/2024Location: Hunt Elementary SchoolDate Available: January 2025Closing Date: Until FilledDescription: Early Childhood Teacher (P-5) JOB TITLE: Classroom Teacher PAY SCALE/TYPE: Teacher, Exempt RETIREMENT: TRS WORK YEAR: 10 months/190 Days REPORTS TO: Principal Job Summary: The teacher is responsible for leading students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. 2. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conductive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district. 3. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior. 4. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. 5. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. 6. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. 7. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 8. Evaluates student progress on a regular basis. 9. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. 10. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, professional learning, and other trainings. 11. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods. 12. Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructionalmaterials. 13. Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned. 14. Communicates effectively with students, parents or guardians, district and school personnel, and other state holders in ways that enhance student learning. 15. Provides for his own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, an/or advances course workat institutions of higher learning. 16. Assumes any other duties assigned by the Principal. Qualifications: The individual must be able to perform each essential job duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities needed to perform the job at a fully acceptable level. Education, Experience, and/or Certification:
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Education or the subject area. Advanced degree a plus.
  • Must hold or be eligible to hold a valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission Clearance Certificate and Georgia Professional Teaching Certificate in the assigned content area.
  • Demonstrated experience in the knowledge and teaching of the content area.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
