Summary of Work Determine eligibility for financial assistance to low-income individuals and families and help the citizens of North Dakota.Mountain Lakes Human Service Zoneis seeking anEligibility Worker - Front Desk Maintenance for the Eligibility Unit. As anEligibility Worker - Front Desk Maintenance (36-36-5841), you are the first point of contact for clients in the Devils Lake office. Worker will be required to greet and assist clients who come into the office, make copies, scan documents, and prepare various correspondences. This worker will assist applicants in completing applications for public assistance; provide general information; review report forms and verifications for completeness; and also determine eligibility for the LiHeap Program and process Medicaid Transportation requests, establish electronic record, as well as other duties as assigned by the agency. A high level of verbal and written communication skills is required, as well as computer literacy in all programs assigned to this position. Training on Economic Assistance programs will be provided. Regular attendance is required of this position. you will be determining eligibility for Economic Assistance programs such as TANF, SNAP, Medicaid, Child Care, and Energy Assistance Program by interpreting state and federal policies. In this position, you will conduct interviews of applicants and recipients; process applications, establish electronic record, manage the cases through the case lifecycle, attend training and workshops, as well as other duties as assigned by the agency. A high level of verbal and written communication skills is required, as well as computer literacy in all programs assigned to this position. Training on Economic Assistance programs will be provided. Regular attendance is required of this position. To succeed in this position, you should be organized, able to be an independent worker and a positive team member and role model and be accountable to the responsibilities of the role. You will have an eye for detail and problem-solving. You should be highly organized, able to manage your time and priorities effectively and have demonstrated ability to communicate and engage with diverse populations. Minimum Qualifications To be considered for this position, youmusthave a high school diploma or GED and one (1) year of work experience determining eligibility in a social service office in one of the following Economic Assistance Programs; TANF, Food Stamps, Foster Care, Medicaid, or LIHEAP,PLUSone of the following:
  • Three years of work experience in the clerical, accounting, financial, legal or teaching fields;
  • Three years of a bachelor's degree program (90 semester hours or 135 quarter hours);
  • Three years combined education and experience as listed above; or
  • Completion of the Eligibility Worker Certificate Program offered at Bismarck State College or formerly offered at Lake Region State College.
If no candidates meet the above requirements, the position may be filled with anEligibility Worker Technician. Minimum qualifications for Eligibility Worker Technician require a high school diploma or GED,PLUSone of the following:
  • Three years of work experience in the clerical, accounting, financial, legal or teaching fields;
  • Three years of a bachelor's degree program (90 semester hours or 135 quarter hours);
  • Three years combined education and experience as listed above; or
  • Completion of the Eligibility Worker Certificate Program offered at Bismarck State College or formerly offered at Lake Region State College.
