Worker is expected to maintain a daily appointment schedule on intervals of every thirty-minutes or on occasion 15 minutes that includes: greeting, assessment, Bill or SAVE verifications, determination of eligibility and/or program qualification. As, an Eligibility Worker III, this worker is expected to set the bar higher, be more efficient, and perform at a high quality level indicative of a seniormemberof staffVolume of work may increase at peak seasons; job restrictions will be placed during such times and will require the work schedule to accommodate for: increase in work load, plans and procedures for on-going changes and/or updates, and/or funding related issues and/or compliance measures, as needed. Worker will perform all duties necessary in delivering services to our public including answering the telephone, faxing and making copies, and maintaining a clean reception area. Employee will assist with supervision of client flow either in pre-screening, appointments, replacement, and or conduct home visits as assigned and will rotate to satellite office. Worker will handle special assignments as needed. Examples of Work PerformedGreets and assists applicants and visitors in a friendly, polite, and courteous manner.Speaks in a clear and understandable manner and must write legibly in English or SpanishAdhere and implement Agency Steps and Procedures, Policies, and all Program Criteria developed, planned, and/or established by Executive Director and Program Specialist in order to properly assess client needs, income eligibility, and program qualificationsResponsible for assessing all client eligibility for program assistance and must be carried out in the utmost professional mannerResponsible for evaluating, plotting, and authorizing utility assistance for pre-determined eligible clients by quotaMust complete work within a 30-minute appointment frame per-client daily (13+), or when directed a 15-minute appointment frame (accommodations are made for this schedule about 26+)Must be punctual to work, with all client appointments, in-house trainings, and/or all other when requiring attendanceMust maintain a 10% margin of error or less in all daily case determinationsMust comply with field rotations to satellite offices and/or information desk, as directed Must attend all in-house, instructional trainings and/or out of town trainings; mandatoryIdentify and respond to community needs and conduct outreach activities, when instructedFollow-up and report on outcomes of referrals that were made to agencies, when instructed Assist in the development of community resources to meet our client's anticipated demands, when instructedRelay all information to the general public as per instructions as set forth by the Executive Director and/or Program SpecialistWill be responsible for maintaining a well organized filing system for his/her personal desk area and assist with the general office/clerical requirements Type forms, correspondence, and other material as generated for department purposes; proofreads all work for accuracy and neatnessPrepare accurate electronic and written reports to be submitted weekly Responsible for maintaining a good attendance record and complying with personnel policiesMaintains a clean client lobby and/or restroom, personal office area, and/or satellite offices for neatness, public safety, and sanitary purposes Perform any and/or all duties assigned by immediate supervisor and/or Executive DirectorEducation and ExperienceBachelors or Associates Degree from an accredited University or College in a related field or direct work experience may be applicableMinimum two years work experience with related social service programs Must have strong mathematical skills and write legibly Must have excellent public relations skillsMust enjoy working with peopleMust be able to understand and follow instructionsMust be able to understand federal, state, and/or private funding criteria for service deliveryMust be bilingual both orally and in writingMust have computer knowledge for electronic reportingCertificates, Licenses and Registration:Must have proof of a current valid Texas Driver's LicenseMust have valid liability insurance while employedKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust have working knowledge of business English, Spelling, and Arithmetic; office practices and procedures; departmental rules and regulationsAbility to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to request clarification when neededMust demonstrate sound organizational skillsMust be a self-starter, people oriented, and demonstrate a strong willingness to follow instructionsEmployee may be assigned to other duties, or work areas, in addition to those listed; duties may change according to the changing needs and public demand of the service areaThe County of Hidalgo offers a full range of employee benefit programs for eligible employees, retirees, and their families.
