Mountrail McKenzie Human Service Zone - Watford City office Summary of Work Mountrail McKenzie Human Service Zone is seeking an Eligibility Worker (31-27-6585) for the Economic Assistance Department. The Economic Assistance Unit provides for the assessment and eligibility determination of applicants for a variety of programs by interpreting and applying complex state, federal, and county policies. This position requires knowledge of community resources and Economic Assistance programs including Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Health Care Coverage, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Low-Income Energy Assistance, Child Care Assistance, Healthy Steps and General Assistance. Program training is provided for this position. Applicants should have strong verbal and written communication skills, computer literacy, collaboration, organization and decision-making skills. You will also need to be comfortable working with all types of software and database applications, with a willingness to learn new technology programs. You will need to have a strong understanding of complex program policies and procedures. You will have an eye for detail, be able to manage your time and priorities effectively and pride yourself on excellent communication skills, empathy, and being a team player. You will have a passion for helping others and making a difference in our community. Minimum Qualifications Eligibility Worker I Requires the minimum qualifications listed below for the Eligibility Worker Technician level,plusone year ofwork experience involving duties directly related to determining eligibility for human services economic assistance programs (including TANF, SNAP, Foster Care, Medicaid, or Liheap);orcompletion of the eligibility worker two-year associate degree program. Eligibility Worker Technician If unable to fill as an Eligibility Worker I, we will consider filling as an Eligibility Worker Technician underfill which requires one of the following:
  • Completion of the eligibility worker one-year certificate program.
  • Completion of 90 semester hours or 135 quarter hours of a bachelor's degree program.
  • Graduation from high school or GED, and three years of work experience involving processing of claims, loans, financial eligibility benefits, credit reviews, abstracts, taxes, housing assistance, or work experiencein the clerical, accounting, bookkeeping, legal, financial, business, teaching, investments, financial planning, or computer/data processing fields.
  • Three years of any combination of education and experience listed above.
Selected candidate will be required to complete a fingerprinted background check in addition to a state background check which may take up to two (2) weeks to process.
