S/he will develop and deliver lesson plans to groups and individual students utilizing academic development language standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Instructs English Learners for the purpose of improving their success in academics and skills
- Develops lesson plans and delivers group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines
- Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans
- Obtains training for and assists with the administration of language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student language proficiency (MODEL and/or W-APT and screenings, ACCESS test)
- Maintains organized records of documentation regarding student achievement in core courses
- Collaborates with English Learners coordinator and other staff to support students experiencing academic performance challenges related to English language learning
- Interprets student performance data and implements appropriate support structures
- Communicates and confers effectively both orally and in written form with students, parents, colleagues, and administration
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Valid Illinois teaching certification PEL
- ESL certification k-12
- ELA endorsment 6-12
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to make technically correct translations from English to Spanish and Spanish to English with speed and accuracy
- Knowledge of evidence-based language acquisition strategies
Pay and Benefits details for Teaching Positions Starting Salary: $52,000 for gen ed teachers, $54,000 for SPED teachers Education: Plus $1,000 for master's degree, $2,000 for doctorate degree. Experience: Plus $1,000/yr up to 10 years.
