Job Description
The Email Developer will be responsible for the coding, creation, execution, scheduling, and analysis of all email programs across multiple platforms and brands. In this role, they will collaborate with internal business partners to execute and scale email campaigns that are critical to driving growth. They will maintain an ongoing awareness of trends and best practices of email design and coding principles. In addition, the email developer will work closely with all members of the Marketing and Product teams in multiple offices to ensure seamless execution.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Develops complex and customized HTML/CSS code, including the following:
- Ability to code complex email templates from scratch, modify/update existing templates, and troubleshoot existing email code as needed.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise on how to make our emails more automated and personalized, through knowledge of advanced coding and scripting techniques.
- Creates custom email templates using HTML, CSS, and liquid scripting to create clean, responsive, modular code that can connect and utilize data sources, logic, and segmentation to populate dynamic offers within email campaigns, be it stand-alone campaigns or automated experiences/journeys.
- Develops customer experiences/journey flows utilizing logic, rules, and segmentation criteria.
- Codes with “mobile-first” mindset and adheres industry best practices for email coding and development.
- Manages end-to-end email production that supports our eCommerce business – includes coding, development, deployment, and analysis of email campaigns, utilizing a major ESP (i.e., Zeta, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, etc.). This also includes, but is not limited to:
- Participating in the QA/QC process for all email campaigns, working with account managers, marketing leads, and developers to ensure all details, links, spelling, products, and content are correct.
- Coordinating with cross-functional account managers on campaign assets, reviews and approvals.
- Collaborating with merchandising and marketing teams on campaign calendars.
- Leverages existing segments and create new custom segments for email deployment utilizing data within the email service provider/platforms. Partner with marketing & data analytics for additional custom segment creation that falls outside the scope of the ESP.
- Displays problem-solving skills to address and solve technical problems that arise as it relates to email campaigns and CRM projects.
- Mentors others on coding standards and performs code reviews.

Qualifications: Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in digital marketing, computer science, web design or other related area.
- 3+ years of hands-on coding and email production experience within an enterprise level Marketing Automation platforms/Email Service Providers, such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Zeta Global, etc.
- Advanced expertise coding in HTML, CSS, and liquid scripting (or AMPscripting) for use in a variety of custom marketing campaigns.
- Advanced knowledge in dynamic personalization & audience segmentation
- Understands how to utilize ETL data files and data exchanges, such as JSON, APIs, within Marketing Automation Platforms/ESPs.
- Experience with project management tools (JIRA) required, as well as strong project management skills.
- Keep current on the latest email inbox changes, code standards, and industry standards.
- Internally motivated, able to work proficiently in an independent and collaborative capacity.
- Ability to manage multiple deadline-oriented projects concurrently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, with proven ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
- Technical/mathematical aptitude; excellent Excel skills.
- Knowledge of debugging techniques and usage of browser developer tools
- Experience in cross-device/browser/OS coding techniques for responsively designed emails.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in retail, entertainment, sports and/or travel industry is preferred
- Proficiency in Dreamweaver/Photoshop skills
- Experience using Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, and other marketing automation platforms
- Understanding of CAN-SPAM and email best practices
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Outlook)
Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000 per year
Salary will be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data.
