Roles & Responsibilities:

Assistant Nurse Manager / Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Full Time at Mount Sinai Brooklyn

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager is a Registered Professional Nurse with broad knowledge and skills who acts as clinical leader in the daily functioning of the unit and oversight of quality, patient care delivery, in conjunction with, or in the absence of, the Nurse Manager.
  • Roles and responsibilities in the areas of Patient Care, Patient Experience, Quality and Safety, Operations and Administration, Professional Development
  • Utilizes an inter-disciplinary approach to coach and develop practice-based staff to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care in a safe environment
  • Assists in developing clinical staff
  • Assists the Nurse Director in assigning patient care activities for 75FTEs
  • Reviews clinical performance of nursing personnel via anecdotal records, conferences and evaluation process.
  • Participates in the Department of Nursing s and the Hospital Center s Quality Improvement Program
  • Serves as a resource person for the nursing staff within the unit or other units.
  • Serves as a preceptor role model in the clinical setting for staff and affiliating students. Participates in the selection of staff members who may serve as preceptors.
  • Assists in the planning and monitoring of the unit budget in conjunction with the Director, Nursing.
  • Requirements:

    • BSN required, Masters in Health related field preferred, board certification preferred
    • 3 years minimum clinical nursing experience with some Charge Nurse/supervisory experience preferred. Must have relevant clinical competence in area of nursing practice assigned
    • Experience/success in a unionized environment preferred
    • EPIC, Microsoft Excel, Windows & Outlook experience strongly preferred
    • Current NYS RN License and registration, BLS and ACLS
    • Strong leadership skills; Effective communicator
    • Demonstrated leadership ability, effective organizational skills, Effective interpersonal skills, Ability to problem solve using critical thinking.
    • Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy and active listening through verbal and body language and actions.

    Compensation Statement

    The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $95,450.00 - $143,175.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
