POSITION DESCRIPTIONYou will be the Laboratory's primary point of contact for incident notification, reporting and coordination of emergency and non-emergency activities and ensures the implementation of appropriate emergency plans, procedures, and checklists in accordance with Federal laws, DOE orders and other related DOE directives and guidance. The EMCC Telecommunicator communicates time urgent decisions to include categorization and classification of operational emergencies, initial protective actions, making time-constrained internal and external emergency notifications, assessing actual or potential impacts from severe weather, and assessing the need to activate the Emergency Response Organization (ERO).
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - High School Diploma plus 3 years or more of experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Experience in law enforcement, fire, rescue, security, medical dispatching, other emergency service, 311, or cooperate communications and/or dispatch center,
- Experience and demonstrated proficiency using computer systems such as Microsoft Office Suite and other computer software systems used by emergency response organizations and communications centers,
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance,
- Ability to work in a diverse work environment,
- Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening.
- Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Previous experience on DOE sites and programs,
- Experience working with radio and notification communications systems, multiple monitoring computer consoles, data collection and recording systems, computer aided dispatch systems, and/or other emergency response and management support systems.
- Experience working within the National Incident Management System/Incident Command System with Emergency Operations Center, Public Safety Agency, or emergency services organization.
- Completion of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) courses.
- Experience in supporting incident management and coordination activities involving emergency response to fire, explosions, chemical, radiological, security and/or natural disaster situations.
- Experience in procedure and training development.
- Associates or bachelor's degree in emergency management, business studies, public safety, communications, occupational safety, or related field and (3) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of related training and experience; or working towards completion of same.
- Experience working in fast-paced, multitasking work environments; with the ability to quickly adapt and prioritize multiple work tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively present detailed information in a clear and coherent manner.
- Positive demeanor and contributing employment history.
- Knowledge of word processing, computer programs and other software packages.
- Knowledge of established procedures for answering multiple radio and telephone lines and providing emergency or critical instructions as appropriate.
LOCATION Albuquerque, New MexicoThis position is fully onsite, part time and third shift.
