Learnmore inour and The Position:We are seeking to fill an Emergency Management Manager position The Emergency Management Manager will under the direction of the Safety Program Administrator, administers an employee, agency wide emergency management program that is consistent with FEMA requirements, Department of Safety and Health (DOSH) rules and regulations, and codes and other applicable local, state, or federal regulations. Develop, plan, and implement plans to prevent, mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural and human-caused disasters and/or emergencies within the workplace. Identifies and analyzes workplace conditions and implements programs and processes to minimize risk to personnel and property. Provides training, technical expertise, strategic leadership, and support for all SHA's departments pertaining to emergency management. How to Apply:

  • The ideal candidate has:
    • Minimum of four years' increasingly responsible experience in Emergency Management is required.
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Emergency Management or related field; however, four additional years of directly relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the required degree.
    • Valid Washington driver's license with insurable driving record required. Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) is preferred.
    • While these requirements are the traditional standards for developing the skills required for this classification, any combination of experience, training and education that demonstrate the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the classification may be considered.?
    What will you do?
    • Develop and implement the overall strategy for continuous improvement for SHA's Emergency Management Program. E
    • Develop and implement emergency management plans that respond to potential natural and human-caused disasters and/or emergencies that minimize damage and disruptions during an emergency within the workplace. Review annually to determine appropriate adjustments and required communication to staff. E
    • Lead efforts in the planning, implementation, and coordination of program daily operations and management of resources. E
    • Partner with internal stakeholders to operationalize emergency management plans. E
    • Evaluate established program, policies, procedures, and processes to identify areas for improvement. E
    • Administer the agency-wide emergency management and notification system. E
    • Organize and conduct education and training opportunities related to emergency management and arrange for practice drills where appropriate to allow staff to practice learned skills and identify training needs. E
    • Identify and analyze related workplace conditions and recommend and implement strategies to minimize to personnel and property. E
    • Serve as the primary contact and liaison with third party emergency management local, regional, or state organizations and for the coordination of SHA's emergency management activities as needed. E

(Temporary and On-Call positions are not eligible for the full benefits package). Long Term Disability InsuranceIf you are disabled, the Basic Plan will be combined with other sources of income to pay you up to $400 a month after a 90-day waiting period. Employees may purchase long-term disability coverage that provides up to 60% of gross monthly salary during disability. Long Term Care InsuranceLong term care benefits provide for services such as home care, assisted living, and nursing home care. Varying levels of coverage and service options are available at low group rates through Group Term Life (GTL) InsuranceYou can select from one of two plans - Basic GTL, which is one-and-a-half times your annual earnings or Limited Basic GTL of $50,000.00. SHA will contribute 40% of the cost for the GTL insurance. If you have elected Basic GTL, you may purchase supplemental term life insurance for yourself, your spouse/domestic partner, and your dependent children. The maximum amount of supplemental life insurance available is four times your annual income for the employee, 50% of the amount of coverage you elect for the spouse, and $2,000, $5,000 or $10,000 for children.Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) InsuranceSHA offers an employee-paid group AD&D insurance plan. An employee may cover themself or a family member for amounts from $25,000 to $500,000 in $25,000 increments. AD&D insurance pays a death benefit if the insured person dies due to an accident or a percentage of the full insurance amount if the covered person loses a limb. Retirement Plan(PERS) membership is defined by Washington State statutes and is mandatory if you are hired into an eligible position. However, if you are retired from or have been a member of the City of Seattle, Spokane or Tacoma Employee's Retirement System, your PERS enrollment must be verified and approved by the Washington State Department of Retirement System.Flexible Spending Account (FSA)Employees have the option of making pre-tax contributions to pay for IRS eligible expenses. There are two accounts: a Health Care Flexible Spending Account and a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account. Employees can sign up for one or both accounts.Leave BenefitsAnnual Leave is provided for vacation and personal time off. Employee Transportation ProgramA discount commuter is offered for use on Metro, Community Transit, Pierce Transit, Kitsap Transit, Everett Transit, Sound Transit, Link Light Rail, Sounder Commuter Train routes. It can also be used on the Seattle Center Monorail. ORCA Passport also provides reduced or fully covered fares on most vanpool routes. Additionally, an , bike racks at various sites, and shower facilities at several offices are also provided, along with discount membership (if accepted). Finally, group discount parking is available for registered vanpools in certain areas.
