Emergency Shelter Associate
The Rescue Mission of Trenton is seeking an Emergency Shelter Associate for the Emergency Shelter. The position is supervised by the Manager of Emergency Shelter who reports to the Director of Emergency Services. The Emergency Shelter Associate (ESA) is an essential part of our provision of emergency services maintaining an effectively run shelter that is safe, secure and meets the needs of our clients.

Our dedicated staff in the Shelter and our Behavioral Health Unit offer care, support and encouragement to all that reside here. We value dignity, communication and helping each of our clients reach their full potential. Clients and residents are assisted by staff with treatment options, medical help, job placement, financial planning, education, counseling and mental health treatment. Our staff works diligently with the clients to get ID, an income and the things necessary to help them with transitioning to housing.
FULL TIME Overnight Shift: 32 hours - 40 hours per week (11pm-7am) Must have weekday and weekend flexibility
FULL TIME Second Shift: 32 hours - 40 hours per week (3 pm to 11pm) Must have weekday and weekend flexibility. Qualifications For Position: Demonstrated desire to help those most in need Proven commitment to improve high-need client's condition High School Diploma or GED Practiced at active listening, critical thinking skills and persuasion A valid driver's license Comfortable using computers, software programs (Excel, HMIS, Smart Sheets), printers and copiers Position Details:
+ Assist a variety of clients in our intake process helping them feel comfortable and wanted
+ Serve meals, distribute hygiene kits and clothing and encourage client participation in support programs, outreach, and case management with dignity, patience and client focused approach
+ Using superior observation and intervention skills help clients redirect negative activities and ensure positive activities and interactions
+ With precision and dedication prepare and maintain records and report
+ Ensure all necessary documentation is complete according to policies and procedures
+ Occasionally, tour the facility to ensure a safe environment for everyone
+ Support fire drills and emergencies
+ Notify appropriate staff of facility or equipment issues
+ Transport and accompany clients to appointments on an as-needed basis
+ Attend all ESA meetings and Staff Trainings
+ Performs other duties as assigned
Pay Rate: $17.51 an hour, plus $1.00 more per hour paid out quarterly.

Covid-19
Rescue Mission of Trenton requires all new employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to start of employment, unless the Rescue Mission of Trenton has granted the employee a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in recession of a candidate's offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
