Position Type: Student Services/Special Education TeacherDate Posted: 10/31/2024Location: Silver Spring ElementaryClosing Date: Until Filled New Teacher Training August 8th - August 14th The successful candidate for this position must possess a Bachelors Degree in Education (Special Education / Elementary Education), with valid and active Pennsylvania Teaching Certifications in Special Education (PK-8 and/or PK-12). The professional candidate(s) selected for this assignment understands and agrees that they may be required to teach in a blended or online format as requested by administration. Three to five years of teaching experience is preferred. Experience and working knowledge of collaborative instructional practices with regular education staff as well as Direct Instruction experience teaching replacement skills (Reading, Writing, Math, Executive Processing, and Social Emotional Skills) to mastery is desired. Responsibilities / Skills of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Strong Interpersonal / Collaborative Skills
- Strong Organizational Skills and Effective Written Communication
- Working Knowledge of diagnostic implications of various disabilities impacting students access and progress in the general education curriculum (i.e. development of Reading/Writing/Communication Skills/Math/Social & Emotional/and Executive Functioning Skills)
- Ability to provide DI remedial instruction / effectively monitor (data collection) and adjust instruction aligned to data analysis / instruction based on best practice (i.e Explicit Instruction)
- Working knowledge and application (i.e. completion of compliant RRs/IEPs and other related process and documents) of Ch 14 requirements.
- Knowledge of Functional Behavior Assessments, Positive Behavior Support Plans, and research based interventions for students receiving emotional support programmimg
