Job Description:
WHAT YOU'LL DO The Employee and Labor Relations Manager is a strategic partner responsible for aligning company objectives with employees and management for Rio Las Vegas. This position will serve as a consultant to management on HR-related issues through employee relations decisions, workplace investigations and maintaining company and CBA policies in the workplace. The ER/LR Manager also supports with identifying talent for succession planning, aligning HR programs with the company culture, and supporting overall employee well-being initiatives. ROLE EXPECTATIONS Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Effectively lead the Employee and Labor Relations workstreams for the property.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to department leaders and managers, understanding their business goals and delivering HR strategies that align with the company's objectives.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to embed policies and best practices across tools and spaces.
  • Communicate policies and procedures to team members and ensure HR programs are aligned with company culture.
  • Keep managers and team members updated on HR initiatives at all levels.
  • Tracking trends in employee behavior and collaborate with Learning & Development when necessary.
  • Attend cross-departmental pre-shift and team meetings to represent the company on philosophy, culture and practices.
  • Coordinate, enter, and manage employee file information (electronic and hard copy).
  • Review exit interviews and summarize to assist management in retention and recognition strategies.
  • Investigate, respond to, and/or route payroll questions and disputes.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and provide guidance on the disciplinary tracks and additional resources for resolution. Collaborate with union shop stewards as required.
  • Understand and administer collective bargaining agreements for multiple unions and facilitate the grievance processes.
  • Always maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism in every interaction.
  • Demonstrate ability to apply sound judgment and organizational values to complex situations and issues through strong business acumen skills.
  • Optimize reporting and workforce analytics, HR data, as well as compensation and benefits.•Guide decisions in succession planning, culture and diversity and inclusion initiatives. Mentor and provide career pathing to team members.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Monitor HR practices and employee relations to prevent legal issues and ensure best practices are followed.
  • Perform other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position will supervise the HR Business Partner (HRBP) / Associate HRBPs
REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience as an HRBP or similar HR management role.
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and practices.
  • Previous experience working in heavily unionized hospitality establishments.
  • Demonstrated ability to administer a collective bargaining agreement and contractual dispute resolution processes.
  • Previous experience advising operations on issues like scheduling, layoff and policy/procedure application.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to influence and build relationships with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders like union personnel.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in managing talent management, succession planning, and employee development.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Able to set and successfully drive strategies for employee culture programs.
  • Strong Computer proficiency; ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and applicable operational software.
  • At least 21 years of age.
PREFERRED
  • SHRM or HCI Certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proficient in using Workday, Ethics Point, employee engagement tools and similar software.
  • Experience working in a similar resort setting.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to work under time constraints and within established deadlines.
  • Must regularly lift and/move up to 10 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment and exposed to various environmental factors such as but not limited to noise, dust and smoke.
