The University of Virginia's Office of University Communications seeks an Employee Engagement Specialist to develop programs that advance our workplace culture and staff engagement.
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Employee Engagement Specialist will collaborate with team members across the department to advance our commitment to foster a meaningful staff culture, recognize and applaud the accomplishments of our team members and continuously reflect on our personal and professional development.
In support of the department's strategic plan , they will design and implement employee engagement strategies based on industry best practices and employee feedback. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on employee experience, supporting professional growth and retention.
Responsibilities:
Introduce processes and tools to regularly assess and monitor employee satisfaction. Use this input to inform ongoing engagement strategies and initiatives. Track progress over time.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with colleagues to ensure collaboration and alignment on engagement efforts. Work closely with Chief of Staff, leadership team, administrative team, and other relevant stakeholders to implement engagement initiatives.
Coordinate with Employee Engagement Council to plan and coordinate events and activities that foster a sense of community and camaraderie among employees. These may include team-building exercises, social gatherings, and volunteer opportunities.
Formalize employee recognition programs to acknowledge and reward excellence, contributions, and achievements within the organization.
Support onboarding processes by partnering with hiring managers and administrative team to ensure new employees are properly welcomed and quickly immersed in department culture and processes.
Generate reports and presentations summarizing progress on engagement initiatives, and overall success metrics. Communicate findings to relevant stakeholders and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
* At least three years relevant professional experience. High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
* Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing circumstances.
* Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a passion for fostering a positive work environment and enhancing employee satisfaction.
* Keen interest in employee engagement, team building, and communications field.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required. Experience with survey tools is preferred.

Anticipated Salary Range: $60,000 to $70,000 , commensurate with experience.
