GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Employee Health & Programs Coordinator supports the development, implementation, and administration of protocols to; a) minimize and mitigate employee health risks; b) identify and respond to employee health incidents; and c) educate and support employees when employee health incidents are suspected or occur. The Employee Health & Programs Coordinator will serve as a primary point of contact for employees during a public health emergency such as an epidemic or pandemic. The coordinator will use clinical training, expertise, and experience to ensure the effective and efficient operation of a variety of clinical programs that provide essential support for the delivery of patient care throughout CHC's service area. The coordinator will also perform the duties of a staff nurse at various medical practices as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* In collaboration with Human Resources, coordinate activities necessary to establish and maintain employee health records, including any job specific requirements.

* Conduct new employee health screenings to include tuberculosis and drug screens, as well as obtaining immunizations records and administering immunizations as needed.

* Act as the contact for employees and supervisors for bloodborne pathogen exposures and illnesses that need further evaluation.

* Serve as a primary contact for employees and supervisors during any prolonged health-related absences including but not limited to surgery, maternity leave, or other severe illnesses.

* The following responsibilities are specific to the 2020 Covid 19 pandemic but are applicable as appropriate during other disease outbreaks including that of seasonal flu:

* In terms of potential exposure and/or symptoms among employees:

* Serve as the primary contact for employees and supervisors in evaluating potential exposure or symptoms of Covid;

* Arrange for COVID testing based on assessment;

* Contact all employees with COVID results and enter results in their record in Epic;

* Coordinate and document actions taken among the CMO, HR, and supervisors;

* Assist in determining appropriate leave;

* Monitor employees that are required to keep symptom tracking forms;

* Provide ongoing education and support to employees for as needed for the duration of their illness and recovery; and

* Assist with return to work determinations.

* In support of prevention and detection:

* Conduct N95 mask fitting and other OSHA activities as it applies to direct patient contact.

* Conduct employee to employee contact tracing.

* Assist with mobile testing documentation, to include obtaining all results and coordinating and working with clinical staff and student nurses to contact all clinic participants.

* Monitor and maintain administration of COVID PPE inventory and be point of contact for sites requesting supplies.

* Monitor site PPE inventories

* Assure appropriate PPE available for weekly community COVID clinics.

* Maintain daily site staff temperature logs.

* Provide clinical expertise to the Clinical Programs Specialist in the operation of, and directly support the following clinical support programs:

* Bio-hazardous Waste Management program

* Vaccines for Children program

* Best Chance Network program

* Site emergency management (oxygen, emergency carts)

* Clinical outreach including, but not limited to:

* Head Start

* Reach Out and Read

* Health fairs

* Flu clinics

* When serving in the role of Staff Nurse, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

* Active patient care team member: identifying and reporting to provider specific patient needs including those required for the visit and for general health care concerns

* Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment and collecting additional information such as lab results, ER reports etc. as indicated from chart review and patient care huddle

* Prepares patient for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room and taking history as required by workflow algorithm. Assesses Vital signs

* Performs routine lab procedures, including basic phlebotomy, as listed in Laboratory Manual

* Assists providers with examinations and diagnostic procedures

* Administers non-intravenous injections as ordered

* Initiates and monitors Intravenous Fluids per professional license

* Maintains patient documentation for example but not limited to lab orders and results, procedure results, phone call

* Assists team in care management as directed by provide

* Follows Standing Orders

* Prepares and maintains clinical supplies and equipment

* Maintains patient rooms and treatment rooms

* Sterilizes all instruments as needed

* Assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment

* Orders and maintains medications for office

* Works in conjunction with Pharmacy Protocols

* Triages and responds to patient communications within practice policy

* Participates in professional development activities as offered and required within the organization

* Complies with all HIPAA regulations

* Updates and maintains clinical skills. Requests education as needed

* Treats patients, their families and staff with dignity and respect

* Performs other related work as required

* Other duties and tasks as assigned by the Clinical Programs Specialist

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

In addition, this position requires:

Education:

* High School Diploma and a minimum of 2 years post-secondary training.

Work Experience:

* A minimum of 5-years of work experience in a clinical support role, preferably in an outpatient medical practice.

Licensure and Credentials:

* LPN required.

Skills:

* Able to read and communicate effectively in writing

* A working knowledge of clinical terminology

* Proficient in use of computer and keyboard

* Experience with excel spreadsheets

* Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships

* Knowledge of HIPAA and ability to maintain confidentiality

* Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills

* Effective communication skills necessary to clearly and compassionately communicate with staff

* Able to work in a goal oriented and self-directed manner

* Able to remain professional and respond appropriately in stressful situations

Physical Abilities:

* Stand for extended periods of time

* Able to push, pull and reach, sit, stoop and stretch

* Have full range of body motion

* Have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate a computer, telephone, copier and medical equipment

* Able to lift and position patients using appropriate body mechanics

* Required to talk and hear

* Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
