We are seeking an Employee Relations Consultant to join our team.
The ideal candidate should have very strong and detailed employee relations experience encompassing routine employee relations concerns, investigations, grievances, manager/employee resolution and EEOC experience.
The Employee Relations Consultant serves as the SMHCS technical expert in employee relations matters and is responsible for administrative, legal & regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities include providing:
1. Counseling support services to non-supervisory personnel that result in the effective resolution of job-related employee concerns, complaint disputes, grievances, and personal matters that affect job performance;
2. Consultative coaching & counseling support services to the Human Resources Director and line management/supervisory staff relating to employment, employee relations, preventative labor relations, internal mobility, retention, problem solving, conflict management, performance improvement planning, formal grievance process and progressive corrective action.
This position also handles EEOC charges of employment discrimination against the hospital.
Required Qualifications:
- Require a bachelor's degree in human resources, health care or business administration or another relevant field and five (5) years experience, OR
a master's degree and three (3) years of experience in employee relations, conducting investigations, or managing employees in a supervisory/managerial role.
Preferred Qualifications:- Prefer healthcare industry experience in a similar sized organization.- Require national specialty certification (i.e., SHRM, Certified Employee Relations Professional (CERP)).- Prefer effective consultative, coaching & counseling, problem solving, conflict management skills.- Prefer relevant technical knowledge & expertise relating to human resources & employee relations.- Prefer proven interpersonal skills, effective communication abilities and sound discretionary judgment.- Prefer working knowledge of PCs, HR systems, Microsoft Office Programs and other relevant software.
